Justin's 86 5.0L Ranger Rebuild
Anywho.. This truck was completed and running naturally aspirated for a solid year without issues. I drove the truck for 15,000 miles flawlessly until the winter hit. Once it did, I wanted to go back to the drawing board for a wicked twin turbo setup. ETA for completion was the day before the annual ranger club meet here in Ontario Canada. After lots of research things progressed well. you will go on a bit of a photo journey of all aspects to squeeze a pair of turbos under the hood.
The truck now is a monster. 546hp and 606 tq. has run the 1/4 mile at 12.20 @117mph on street tires. here is a finished picture, keep reading and following for the progress to the end!
this is what we started with. 335hp and somewhere in the same torque area, only dyno'd once.
I used Mustang Shorty headers upside down and heavily modified. they aren't as restricting as they may seem
once modified it looked like this

after some thought, I purchased a spare block with heads to build the turbo's off of. I found this easier. some will say it was a waste of time, others not so much.. Well worth it IMO
oil manifold built including mechanical pressure gauge connection and both turbo feeds.
As the turbochargers are Journal bearing, I had to control oil flow somehow so i did not blow out the seals of the turbocharger. I made the elbows and threaded carburetor jets into them for oil control. if i needed more oil, I put a larger jet in. if i need less oil, put a smaller jet in. very simple and cheap. I went with #67 jets and have yet to change them.
more photos to follow with some free time coming up! stay tuned. lots of things happened over the last few years!
