Default IA Transplant's 01 Ranger Build

I have finally started my build thread after owning my 01 4.0L Ford Ranger for over a month. I plan to do quite a lot to it, which I will post all things I do in this thread.

~~~~~
Today I replaced the gauge cluster lights in the truck. One was burned out on the RPM gauge, and the others were causing a nasty yellowish color. I used T10 194 led bulbs and replaced all 6 main spots for them, as well as the dome lights with them.
~~~~~

I also had purchased some wheels that I have yet to put on (I am waiting on the tires still). They are TSW Sonomas in black, in the front is 18x8.5 +20 and rear is 18x8.5 +20. They should look really good. Going with low pro tires as well.

Still been super cold since my last post, so I haven't done much at all. Waiting for my tax return to get some tires. Anyways, I just did a little mod to the 3rd brake light. Switched it out to a LED one because its way brighter and the OEM one was faded. Works like a charm and is much brighter. Once I get more dinero I am going to get some LED tail lights and new headlights.

edit: Don't know why my photos are sideways, but y'all are just gonna have to deal with it

Up next on the build thread is tinted windows. Now I know most people do this as a first mod, but when I went to my local tinter they wanted $275 to do 25% all the way around ended up doing some $30 precut tint off of eBay. Not the greatest looking but definitely does the job.

So just driving along today, needed some gas so I went to go fill up. I figured while I'm at it might as well fill up my tires right? Well. I was just filling my tires up when I noticed something a little odd. Upon further inspection... I realized that what I thought was a lot worse than I thought.

Thankfully I noticed it before it was too late! Going to throw on the spare tomorrow, and also get my new tires mounted to my new rims, which I will reveal shortly.

Welp. Put on the full size spare. Now my truck looks like a real hooptie. But I figured since I had my wheel off, might as well try the new rims I bought earlier. Looks real nice.

If someone knows how to get photos to not be sideways, that'd be cool to let me know

New headlights came in today. Plan on using them for the retrofit, that way I get a nice clear lens and I dont have to take out the current ones. I will be posting a how-to and parts list for the retrofit, which will include projector, demon eyes, and angel eyes.

BIG NEWS BOYS (and girls)

I finally got my wheels & tires mounted. Plan on doing tire lettering (yes I know its kind of ricey). I will put them onto the truck tomorrow since it is going to be a Saturday. Will post more pictures when they are on the truck.

As for specs it is 18x8.5 20 in the front and 18x9.5 20 in the rear. TSW Sonoma is the rim and they are wrapped in Continental Extreme Contact Sports. 235/50 front and 255/45 rear.

Looks great. Get "extreme contact" lettering to balance it out imo

I was debating about it. But if you ever painted on your letters, it takes a LONG time lol. Maybe in the future.

OK I think I figured out this TapATalk thing. Yesterday I painted the window mouldings because it peeled off one one side. Today, I blacked out the once chrome grill and bumper to make it look happier. Also removed front license plate mount so it looks more clean.

Cleaned up the bed fenders rust in preparation for fender flares, put in some LED lights for license plate light, and painted the exhaust tip black.

Dont mind my parking in the last pic, I was leaving anyways lol

Tried troubleshooting my heat/AC issue today. To no avail, but blower motor, blower motor relay, and resistor are all good. Also, I bedlined the bed with some hercuLiner. Only used one can so will probably need another, but looks way better than before. Also got a wash today.

Been kind of absent recently. Just been working on some long projects on the truck and school shit. Did a switch panel and aftermarket radio inside, fender flares on the back to cover up rust, and just now finishing my retrofit (twas a bitch to do). I know the fender flares are a bit off, and the retrofit is poorly done, but its been a huge learning experience for me and I want to be transparent with how I did things. The switch panel got cleaned up so it doesnt look jank af anymore. Gonna update the project next week probably.
