Cool - only way to learn this stuff, there all little different. The auto store should lend you what ever tool you need to do it all yourself...

They did lend me a ball joint press, but it was funky and missing parts so it was a real struggle to get the first one on, and not worth it to do the other one. Dunno what tool I'd need to get the outer tie rod off the inner- the passenger side went just fine! I'll just do the whole inner and outer at some point later on.

Got it into the shop! A small miracle. That drivers side ball joint sounded ROUGH. It got obliterated when we were grinding down the LCA to fit the lift spindle.

Trash heap

I would keep the parts that are usable, namely the spindle just in case something catastrophic happens like in a freak accident the spindle breaks you won't be up shit creek without a paddle.

I am. Keeping the spindles- nothing else was really worth salvaging. Maybe the control arms, but they'd need new ball joints for sure.

No updates- It's STILL at the shop getting it's alignment and ball joint replaced. But upon further investigation when I get it back (and after I do the rear shackles and shocks) I'm going to rip out the plastic bed liner, do spray on liner, and maybe give a go at making a skid plate/radiator guard. Because I removed the valance there are some radiator hoses that are concerningly exposed- would be the first things to go if I hit a curb. But I have no idea how to weld, no time to learn, sand don't know anything about cutting or working with sheet metal or even what kind to use. So, new to do list is:

Rear shackles
Rear shocks
Remove plastic bed liner
Spray on bed liner
Skid plate

Metal work is pretty easy, just measure, measure, and measure again. Welding is pretty easy once you do it once or twice, but takes practice to get some great beads.

Got it back from the shop. They said the tie rod I installed was a little too long so I have to trim half an inch off the inner? And the cambers are square but I need to buy aftermarket round ones... Dunno much about alignment specs so I don't know how off I am or how big of a deal that all is. It sure feels fine to drive. Really need to put on that rear lift- hopefully tomorrow!!
Pretty excited to get that rear done, redo the bedliner, and get some nicer photos that aren't just on the street.

Looks sick!

These are the camber bolts he's talking about. They go in place of the Upper Control Arm bolts. Need 4 bolts total. I need them, and my camber isn't too bad and the inside of my tires are BALD.

Thanks. I'll pick those up. Bummed because they charge $65 each side to do a camber adjustment. Such is life.

Grrr. They even sold me on the lifetime alignment only to then tell me 'oh that doesn't cover camber adjustments'
