Default Undrstm8ed 94' Ranger Bed "Overlanding Trailer" build...

ABOUT THE PRODUCTS

Just as in my Truckumentry build, the products I use are generally multi-purposeful, of middle to middle upper end quality, most of which have been supplied or installed by one of two of my trucks current sponsors.., Myself and 12° North, Industries which has been generously helpful.., Located in Las Vegas, Nevada. I only use the products that fits the needs and the means of the situations I create with this trailer and those associated with it..

NOTE:: “Generally it’s against most forum policies to engage in outright site commerce without permissions from the Administration” so that we are CLEAR; it is not my goal to sell anything here either by this thread. My goal here is to now showcase what has been done to create a truck-body matched companion offroad trailer meant for use as a stand alone B.C. [base camp] as a multi-user tasked B.C. for larger group outings. It is also my intention to spark up ideas and or conversations of the how, what and why this trailer is set up for the use it is.

It's all about function & form which will lend to its own uniqueness as the build progresses. This is an addendum to my personal and master goal here, a overly thought out theme, well defined purpose, with much shared ingenuity & creativity behind it as the Truckumentry builds (I & II). What follows is my design and build sheet for what is to come as of today, some changes may be made to meet new challenges or better options; corrections will be made as needed.

Like what you see so far? Come join myself and others as we evolve on our journeys.

So Monday if I have enough time before they [Hombre depot] close. I want to see if they still sell those clamps you nail two lengths of 2x4 in and then put another one between the jaws and you can make a sawhorse setup (?) so I can set the bed at near chest height and work on some things, namely overall cleaning up of the bed, removing any pin stripping, stickers, dent removal, residue.., ect. As well check out the underside better too.

Since the bed is already prepped for addition of a spray in based bed liner material, I guess I can skip that part some. lol

I will be able to plan out and mock up new wiring using some factory wiring, as well my own additions, for a few things being added to the build including that of the following:
  • Dual 4ga battery lines (pos & neg) for power distribution and battery bank connections to inverter/solar charge controller
  • Integrated trailer brake harness wiring (7-way plug)
  • AUX Trailer Lighting Wiring
  • Tailgate Power lock (pop-out lock) w/magnet backup switch
  • External 8gal per min Reserve Fuel pump
  • Shore plug
  • Solar panel port plug
  • Bed lighting
  • Control panel wiring

Oh, and I'll have to call Performance Acc to see if I can purchase just two replacement 2.00" body lift pucks, and pick up some new cut off wheels/discs...

Small and minor update,

My brackets for creating the saw horses came in today, so tomorrow I have to get some bolts for a boat trailer and I will pick up a couple 2x4s to cut down for legs and assemble them and figure out where I am putting this bed to be worked on.. I think I have just the right spot to put it.

Also a buddy is loaning me his 7" orbital wheel to clean up some of the beds imperfections. So I'll have that to do as well.

I swear... my mind was in my arse today. I had so much to get done today when I went to grab a couple 2x4's and I don't know what math I was using or where my head was at but I need to get 2more 2x4's to complete the legs on the second sawhorse.

I made the saw horses 41.5" high [where I measured from on the end was on a bump that robbed me my .50"].. maybe a bit higher than I needed but It'll work for my needs. I'll pick up the extra 2x4's Friday afternoon and Saturday have the bed up on them and adjusted properly.

Just for comparisons, unrelated to earlier events of mis-counting just fyi.. lol

So took some time to finally get the bed up on the saw horses yesterday. I will have to cut 8-10" off those legs eventually though but for now, chest level with minimal bending to get to the underneath for things is kinda nice for the moment while its appropriate.

You'll notice there is some dents in a couple spots. I actually got a couple out with a dent hammer, spoon, and a door skin block today. Not perfect but considering the PO drilled holes and wasn't able to pull the metal out with body hooks [no shit], I was able to do a bit better and I can always lead the holes in and sand it down.

The one on the top corner near the tailgate is rather difficult.

Other spots came out good enough that the wrap will hide most of it.

in a day or two once I get the dents out as much as I can. I'll take a wheel and clean up the outside of the bed. Shy of washing the bed out, the scratches will actually help allow the bed liner material stick better so sanding it down further will be necessary but as you can see, half the works been done already.

A mismatched tailgate is likely but again once the wrap is done, I won't nor will anyone else see it. Hoping to find a Black or if lucky another "medium Aubergine Metallic" [purple] tailgate that actually matches but.. yea, not likely to happen.

I know its just a trailer but, there is a sense of pride going into this and I'm hoping to have this done also before 2020 Expo West without having to wait until last minute anything.

Aside from the obvious plastic push pins. I seem to be lost in the proper removal of the OEM wheel well guards/lips. Finally found something thats actually got me a bit stumped to some degree.

Seems to be a reverse clip system on the backside outer edge to keep the guard close to the surface of the wheel well itself but I am not familiar enough with them in general so looking for someone to give me advice on removal so I can get behind them and clean up the trailer bed outside.. Anyone following this got some advice?
