Not a whole lot new, got 30% tint on the side front windows and installed an explorer ohc, other then that just using the truck

Big plans I want to do next summer-
-Bilstein 5100's
-BTF unnibal upper control arms
-Sct Tuner
-4.56 Gears, Torsen front lsd/Explorer 8.8 with a detroit locker

Lots of smaller things to do also but those are the big ones

I am curious as to why a few people like the Torsen LSD? Everyone has a difference of opinion of course but among all the reviews and people praising and blaming them I've established the advantages and disadvantages as being written like this.

"Torsen and helical differentials work in a fairly similar fashion, using clever gearing to apply locking force to transfer torque to the wheel with more grip. They’re great for street use and even light track/offroad use, though they do have a disadvantage.

Advantages:
  • These differentials begin to send more torque to the slower-rotating wheel the instant there is a speed differential between them. Essentially, it reacts far quicker than a VLSD.
  • These are purely mechanical systems, with no routine maintenance required as the differential action is dependent upon friction throughout the gears.

Disadvantages:
  • When one wheel is in the air, a Torsen diff acts very similarly to an open differential, and very little torque is sent to the drive axle. For street use this is completely acceptable, but it may be an issue for more purpose built vehicles on the track/offroad."

So I guess if by "light" offroad use means a fireroad or back road, it may prove to be more than acceptable. And I get it, the locker should minimize or forcibly remove the dead wheel in the air disadvantage but.

I'd have to do some more serious research as I'm almost positive neither of 4x4 setups have LSD Dana35's even though my one setup had it in the rear with the 3.73. Do you know if the rear has it the front might?

Now I'm really curious...!

No Ranger from the factory had a lsd up front and the only reason i want a torsen up front is because i don't trust a full on locker with ifs. Having a rear locker though will allow me to keep going when fully flexed out (something the current open front and rear torsen won't let me do)

Been quite awhile and a lot has changed, swapped the motor do to timing chain problems, got some btf upper control arms and bilstein 5125 shocks, lots of other maintenance

Also removed the roof basket and made a new tent so I don't have the aerodynamics of a sailboat

The annual update

Swapped in some bastard pack Chevy 64s, got a winch and cranked up the bars for the additional weight. Otherwise just been using it, managed to camp every at least once every month last year so that was cool, winter camping has been an absolute blast
