I would think one could look up the laws in your state and County and figure it out better than some random forum

Ideally I dont think you'll get hassled too much providing the bed is secure, you add the bed cable, secure the filler neck, it has all the appropriate lighting and wiring requirements, and that wonderful piece of added taxation is attached in a legible fashion for the policy enforcers to see clearly so if they do pull you over for BS they get the numbers & lettering right.

The California Codes are 29 legal codes enacted by the California State Legislature, which together form the general statutory law of California. Unlike the United States Code or other U.S. state legal codes, they have never been consolidated into a single unified code. The official Codes are maintained by the California Legislative Counsel for the Legislature.

CVC Or California Vehicle Code within the Administration of DMV operates in has well over 5900+ codes.

"The Codes contain, or are supposed to only contain general statutory law, with the emphasis on the word "general"." -- Statutory law means your consent is required, in layman's terms if you believe the law applies to you, IT CERTAINLY DOES.

"The Codes form an important part of California law. However, they must be read in combination with the federal and state constitutions, federal and state case law, and the California Code of Regulations, in order to understand how they are actually interpreted and enforced in court. The Civil Code is particularly difficult to understand since the Supreme Court of California has treated parts of it like a mere restatement of the common law. In contrast, other codes, such as the Probate Code and the Evidence Code, are considered to have fully displaced the common law, meaning that cases interpreting their provisions always try to give effect whenever possible to the Legislature's intent." -- So basically the legislation makes them so ambiguous for there benefits and to make it so you require the use or need of an Attorney, whose a court appoint officer too, and with his first duty being the courts.. yea.. so much for your chance at any fair trials between that and the judge having a monetary compensation for every fine he collects..

"The state government does not publish an official set of the Codes" -- Geewizzz So you're suppose to NOT know the vehicle codes and laws but ignorance of the law is no excuse.. Sounds like entrapment and fraud to me.

Other than that.. i think your good
