Okay, finally got the camping build started!

Empty bed, cleaned it out and took some measurements.

Cut the plywood to length and width, then cut out the spaces for the bulges in the side of the bed.

First test fit to make sure the cut outs lined up, all good! time to cut more supports.

The rest of the supports ready.

Now that all those are cut out, time to screw them on.

Another test fit to make sure things are still good.

Time for the side piece of plywood, I went taller with this piece, so it can hold the foam pad from sliding off the side.

I'm going to leave this end open, so I can store things like my shovel, axe, and hi lift underneath.

And thats the sleeping platorm! super easy, it's really light, and it's dead simple to remove it by myself.

If I was shorter I'd be all. Over that bed setup. That's all that has stopped me from doing a canopy build.

Yeah I guess if you're over 6' it wouldn't be ideal. I'm 5'11" and have plenty of room, I can stretch right out of I want to.

Picked up some foam finally, going to get that cut to size and then figure out when I will have time to actually use all this and go camping.

Started the build when I had my old job and had 2 weeks booked off. Well I got laid off and my new job I don't get paid holidays so, yeah kinda screwed lol. Guess I still have long weekends though.

Bought some new stuff today, new cooler that fits perfect, I bought a tarp to set up above the back of the cap so I can have shade underneath, and protection when it rains. My sliders windows leak a bit unfortunately so, tarp will help if I get caught on rain.

First trip finally in two weeks. Should be a good time.

Got a little 6'x5' tent as well, to store stuff in at my camping spot when I'm off driving around during the day if I choose to go anywhere. Figured that would be a better idea than having the back loaded up with a cooler full of food and stuff.

Setup is looking good, i have the same cooler and I gotta say it's pretty crappy though, ice doesn't last long at all in it
Just a heads up

Thanks for the heads up. Got it on sale for real cheap so if it doesn't work its not a huge loss haha. I'll be camping near a town so if I need to grab a bag of ice a day it should be ok. Will keep that in mind for future trips though. We'll see how it does.

Worst case scenario I'll use it at home in the backyard to keep beers cold by the pool so I don't gotta keep going to the fridge lol.

All ready.

Jk.

Getting my transfer case looked at, its giving me issues again. Shop said they could get it done by Friday if I can get it to them on Tuesday. So tonight I pulled it out. I'm leaving on Sunday to go camping so they better not be lying lol.

Got the back all ready for camping. Just need to add ice and good to the cooler. Had a little nap in there and damn it's comfy. I was scared the foam wouldn't be thick enough but it's perfect.

So...just like that, you just pulled the TC? Never done that before so I am not sure of the difficulty, but it doesn't sound like fun.

Lol yup just like that. took about an hour with fluid drain and tool cleanup. 8 bolts on rear shaft, a bunch on the front, drain case fluid, 5 bolts on transfer case and pull er out.

I didn't drain mine when I took it off to do my clutch kit job. Sumbitches are heavy. I'm still amazed I put it back on with no help.

Yeah, I drained mine because it was going into the shop. Not that there's a ton of fluid in it, bit every bit helps lol. Getting it back on, lined up, and keeping the gasket in place is a task for sure by yourself. This time I'm on 35" tires and I parked up on ramps so it's a bit more room underneath to work with. Should make it a bit easier.
