Thanks! it will be finished in 2 to 3 weeks!

but heres the update:

got my rear diff shims in from yukon axle and my pre fuel pump filter

so i got the fuel filter installed which was super simple. nothing complicated

i then took my box back off and proceeded to the diff shim. not my first rodeo I've done about 3 8.8 axles without issue. so this one got shimmed out and put back together.

then got it all put back together and ready to go. just need to fill it up with some diff fluid then its ready to take to the road!

interior is almost finished. just waiting on carpet. but amps and sub is installed. bodywork and paint on the hood, doors and fenders starting next monday! stay tuned

got a cool little project I've wanted to do for a while finished. my new shifter. the old one was just a standard ford mustang short shifter and with my new seats you shifted below your ass.... so i had to raise it up but I've always liked engine parts used in project trucks so i made mine! take a look. made out of an old lawn tractor piston and connecting rod. still have to paint the shifter arm but that will wait until tomorrow

heres another weeks worth of updates.

got my tonneau cover for the 7ft box today. super hard to find but glad i have a good friend of mine that had this one hiding away!

i got a chance to clean up my headlights. nothing too difficult but enough that i had to make them clear-ish again.. i used FLITZ polish for this job.

got my bumper painted up with truck bed liner. prep is the key when working with chrome. a good jitterbug sander and red scotch write pad does the trick. heres a before and after

heres the finished product for tonight got some painting to do next

another sunday update:

matched my mirrors with truck bed liner rather than chrome. they turned out good.

also used the old cab stand for a painting the fenders and the under grille portion

then finished the day off with painting those fenders, and polishing the turn signals and painting the headlight bezels

so shiny!

more coming soon!

hey guys. another update.

pretty progressive day today. all started with some paint, for the rest of the panels including doors and hood.

next i modified my stock hood release cable to fit in behind the grille instead of running into the cab. i just crimped the line over itself with some metal crimp pieces. pretty simple modification

also got my new door light switches installed, these were pretty simple as well. i got these out of a Chevy HHR and they work great. even come with a clip connector so if i happen to break one off i can just unplug and plug a new one in. 10 times better than the original ford door switch

got the doors installed and the hood as well. i let the paint bake in the sun for a while to harden up. went well. just have to adjust the shining a little to fit the sides of the truck

and the final masterpiece for the day. this is how it sits now. super close. just a couple of days left until its first drive!!

heres a sunday night update!

got the mirrors finished, and a few other things. painted my door panels so it all matches.

then pulled the truck out of the garage for the first time since october under its own power.

and heres where it sits until i put it inside tonight. just behind its bigger brother!

heres another after weekend update,

the truck runs and drives! I've clocked 30 miles so far with a couple of issues. i had a brake caliper stick on me causing an overheated brake. but quickly fixed and good.

i also have to adjust my hydro slave cylinder to engage the clutch further. right now its hard to switch gears with sometimes a slight grind.

painted my rear bumper up with the bedliner to make it match the front. looks so much better now!

heres an updated engine bay shot, nothing spectacular but could use a good cleaning

had a larger issue requiring me to change the ring gear on the flywheel. kind of sucks but it has to happen. that will be tuesday

more tuning coming up next.

heres another update.

been driving the truck around, lots of power and letting the efi unit do its self tuning. i ran into an odd issue with the starter flywheel combo. it would randomly grind a horrible grind when i went to start it. other times it worked great. so i purchased a new flywheel ring gear and will be replacing my starter gear as well to see if i can mend the problem. but heres a picture of the flywheel and the starter gear. not 100% horrible but might be worth pulling the tranny and doing it properly for peace of mind.

also drove it to work and got to finish installing my tires. i finally have a full set of good tires. one less thing on the bucket list to complete

well heres what happened yesterday.

i pulled the trans on the hoist at work to change out the flywheel ring gear

heres the old ring gear still in place. nothing major but definitely needs changing.

and here is the old vs new comparison. not so much life left in the old one thats for sure!

and the trans ready to go back in already on the transmission jack.

more tuning now and getting everything worked in. truck drives amazing. very happy with it so far.

I know this is an old thread, but I just want to commend you on this thread and your build. Great info for anyone thinking about doing a frame up let alone and engine swap.

Again, congrats. Your truck looks great.
