Re: Justin's 86 5.0L Ranger Rebuild
I hate to bear bad news but nice & rats will chew through tape in a few seconds!! They can actually chew through concrete!! I breed rats and I know how hard they are to contain! Lol just hate to see them get in ur fresh engine! If possible I'd try to put a piece of sheet metal over all the holes!!

Re: Justin's 86 5.0L Ranger Rebuild
Haven't heard of the Clutch Slave swaps on these trucks, let alone a swap from a bigger truck onto the Rangers. I have done F350 brake parts onto F150s before though. I thought the M5OD-R1 and the ZF-5 used different clutch parts entirely though?

thanks for the heads up, I've just put a metal plate above the intake and 2 large metal covers on the exhaust. everything else is good and secured now. thanks for the heads up!

from my understanding there is a way to mount a larger master into the trucks to give hydro swapped manuals extra pushing power. i might end up with a wildwood system if all else fails. but time will tell. I'm not at that stage yet just brainstorming

Re: Justin's 86 5.0L Ranger Rebuild
well, christmas was good to me! i hope it was to everyone else!
got myself a new toolbox for all my tools. easy finding tools now thats forsure!
i also picked up some wood and casters to drop the cab to work on it at a proper height. it was about $60 in parts to make this cart up which isn't finished... but it will have the cab bolted to it so nothing can shove it off while working on it. more pictures to come up. but for now its back to preparing the garage for lowering the cab onto the cart.

Re: Justin's 86 5.0L Ranger Rebuild
started on some rust repair to the cab. heres some pictures of the repair patches and finished pictures.
i used ez liner bed liner for spraying the floor. to make sure no water penetrates the floor to rust it.
started with moving the cab into the other shop with the plasma cutter and welders
then marked out the areas to cut and made a template. I've been patching with 1/8" sheet metal .
and heres the almost finished bedliner

Re: Justin's 86 5.0L Ranger Rebuild
making more progress on the truck. i met up with a couple of local ranger group guys and picked up a good rad support, radius arms and floor pan for the truck. heres some pictures of todays progress!
old on the left, new on the right
here is the front end cut up.
and new core support tach welded into place
and here is the bad section cut out if the floor
and the floor pan set into place. i still have to grind the edges, then weld into place. should have this part finished by tonight. then onto a couple small spots left then i can start prepping the cab for bodywork and paint
stay tuned
