Well Ken went and did it... I bought another Ranger yesterday! My buddy 93_Rarity sold me an '03 he bought awhile back. This will be my build thread on it.

It's a 2003 XL Regular Cab Longbed with the 2.wee DOHC Duratec, M5OD-R1, 3.73's with an open differential, factory tachometer, rubber floor, base AM/FM radio with no CD. Her name is Yuki as she is White, which means Snow in Japanese.

The old boy that owned the truck bought it new and used it for his work truck, he lives out in the sticks further NE here in Oklahoma. He got hit by a deer one day and messed the fender, hood, and grille up. Sometime afterwards and somehow he busted the door handle off the passenger door and completely removed the handle on the driver door, thus you must leave a window down to get in and out.. I'm fixing to remedy that here pretty quick, along with another passenger fender.

I must say, the 2.3 DOHC Duratec with the M5 combo and is most excellent. This little truck hauls ass for a 4 cylinder!



















So I'm probably gonna go with a honeycomb grille, I know I'm going 06+ Tails, 06+ Mirrors, Clear Corners, new headlight housings. I'm gonna go through the brakes and such sometime soon as well and check everything over.

So it's had this little issue where it wants to stumble and buck sometimes while driving then it lines itself out. Thought it was a slight chance it'd be plugs, but they are new and still look excellent, cleaned them off anyway just to be sure.

Afterwards it did it to me again going to Advance Auto to get some Vacuum Tees, so I bought a can of MAF cleaner while I was there. Got back home and popped the top off the filter box. Thought that might've been the issue, the Filter was NASTY. Cleaned the Sensor, pulled the negative and gonna let it sit overnight so the PCM will clear. Haven't gotten a CEL but I think it might be burnt out or missing the bulb as some of the bulbs are burnt out in the cluster.

I'll check the coil pack a bit more thoroughly, it looked like it was fine but you never know.

Made about a 200 mile round trip today with Colin in his 97 and pulled two good doors with panels and glass, an almost dent free passenger fender, and two tail lights for Yuki today.

I've gotta pull my factory locks out of my doors and swap them onto the replacement doors.

Also might have a line on a nice factory 60/40 seat with console.

I still want 06+ tails, but I grabbed these tails off of the truck we pulled the doors and fender off of. They were already tinted, they did a somewhat good job, really need to wet sand and polish them once the VHT is applied to get them to really look good. I'm just gonna run them for awhile until I get the 06+ tails.

Also cleaned the MAF and reset the PCM along with installed a new Air Filter, it still runs like shit. Idle surges up and down sometimes, idles really high on start up, starts popping and backfiring along with idling low. Next course of action is to try to drive it to work and back and see if it throws a CEL, if not the bulb might be burnt out so I'll plug a code reader into it and see what I get.

You may want to try a compression test or leak down test to see if you have seats falling out or cracks.

I'm gonna try another coil pack like Tyler suggested. Seems in my vast searching of the interwebz that cured this same exact issue I was having. Same symptoms and all. It'll be a little bit before I get another coil pack though.

I made a thread on it a while ago. The coil packs go bad just as quick as the plugs do. Especially with like 260 grand on yours, lol.

Here's a link to a thread I made on it. My final post was incorrect. It was the coil pack. My U-joints are good.

Well, I'll probably just wind up driving the parent's van to work for now until I get the Coil Pack ordered. Not paying $100 for a freaking coil pack though... I'll try a $25 Airtex/Wells from RA.

Oh well, just gives me more time to get my replacement doors ready and installed.
