Hello everyone, I am new to this forum and really need advice and experience.
I have a completely stock and very clean 98 Ranger with the 3.0, and 5 speed manual 4x4 transmission.

I want to put a 5.0 from a mustang in my truck. I know I will have to replace the wiring harness and ECU to make the engine run, I believe I will need to replace the stock clutch with a performance clutch to handle the power increase.

I read that a 96 Ford Explorer 5.0 will be kind of a plug and play swap. however, in the thread it explained to install the transmission as well, which is automatic. I want to keep my Ranger manual, preferably a 6 speed.

So, I want a 6 speed manual 4x4 ranger, with a 5.0.

What will I have to do to make this work? Can I keep the 5 speed tranny to keep the 4x4? so far all 6 speeds are RWD.
