Hello all, I thought I'd start a thread for everything I've done to my truck. I bought it towards the end of summer break when I was 15, didn't even have my permit yet . The truck is a 1998 4X4, extended cab, manual transmission, Windows, locks, everything but the 4 wheel drive haha. Got it with 142,000 miles and now has 152,800.
While I learned to drive stick with my dad I started researching upgrades for her. For Christmas I got a toolbox and some newer mirrors.
Well, toolbox was broken into right before Halloween, so I TIG welded an aluminum frame for the bottom of the lid and reshaped the top. Then came my weekend of bedliner. I painted the toolbox, bumpers and fender flares. I also found a set of 31'' M+S Falken's a friend of my dads was selling, only $100
Next came seat covers, I only had one small tear in the driver's seat but I wanted to maintain them.
Another friend of my dads gave me this cap that came off his ranger, but I sold it about a week later since it didn't match my truck very well. At some point I also blacked out the emblems.
I decided I wanted some better lighting so I installed a 24" light bar on the front bumper and two 4" pods inside the rear bumper.
I ended up with two flats on the drivers side and had to buy a couple of used tires to hold me over until my new wheels and tires arrived. I also repainted the toolbox with gloss black automotive enamel, looks much better now.
32x11.50r15 BFG KO2 and Pro Comp 15x8 Matte Black Alloy wheels
Next step was a torsion bar crank and my latest Christmas gift, smoke headlights!
When we bought the truck my parents had a full tune up done and had the breaks replaced, when it was time to renew smog I had to have a bunch of wiring redone (has helped my power and response) and just had the lower ball joints replaced when I got an alignment after the tbar crank. And here is how she sits today

Re: Alex's 98 4X4
Do you have rubber floors in that truck?

Update, decided to design and build bumpers before I graduate.
I started with a card board layout and then drew this design in SolidWorks.

I started by cutting the top plate to test the fit, it was 1/4" plate. If I were to do it again I would go 3/16".

Then I tacked together the rest of the pieces, including plates with cutouts for some led pods.

I finish welded the whole thing and then ground all the welds down.

As I write this primer is drying in my backyard.

Hopefully I will have it bed lined and mounted on the truck tomorrow. So far I'm only five days into this build with only about 9 hours into design and fabrication.

image-1210935614.jpg All mounted up, need to make a slight modification to the brackets for strength, but otherwise I'm very happy with it. My design allowed me to maintain the stock license plate illuminators as well. And I love having LED's in the rear. image-3038729202.jpg
