the jba headers are bolt on, then we designed the exhaust. we had to get two pipes bent and flared to our specs at the muffler shop. One we had to cut a section out and re-weld, we welded the flexible connectors to our custom tube. Built our hangers and welded those to the frame, and will be building the rear hanger into the carrier bearing mount.

So not quite a bolt on system

We could make it from header back to where you would just have to bolt up and slip tubes and use connectors. Probably for under what you pay for an exhaust system, just depends on complexity.

Nice. That would be awesome if you could do that for me. Not at the moment now, because of bills, but I would love to get a setup like yours one day. I really want to get dual exhaust that goes straight out to the back of the truck with some Super Turbo Dynomax mufflers . What sort of price would I be looking at to do this on my 02 Edge ext?

Price depends, I would need to get a look at a stock edge underneath and see if there are things in the way were we need to incorporate more bends, I have to pay a muffler shop to do the bends since we cant go above a 2" pipe on our bender. Also depends on whether or not I am buying mufflers or other materials or if you are supplying them. Pm me with more details. Like if you would keep stock headers, whether you wanted pipes wrapped, etc

Also I would need to have that muffler (at least one) here at the shop, because hangers were built to the mufflers and it determines length of pipe. We could make the hangers in a simple bolt on setup where you just drill some holes in your frame and bolt it on, just like bolting on a radius arm or link mount.

Well we got the plunge to 1/4" any closer and our carrier bearing would be to low. It could change a tiny bit once everything is bolted in. But, we did call the driveline shop and get all the measurements we needed. We will be using an IED polyurethane center support. Here is the center support mount, we did a box setup again. Not only does it take care of its main purpose but also help with boxing the frame (we were just going to a few braces to begin with). The upper wish bone mount fits in between and the exhaust clamp is sideways to pull the back of the muffler away from the frame a bit and work as a hanger. There is a 3/16 notch in one of the plates, a 3/16 plate will be welded their and the center support will bolt to that, we decided on having it bolt just in front of the box instead of underneath the box. The 4.25" is all set up into where the box mounts in relation to where the center support and u joint will be.

Today is my dads 50th so taking a day off, we work until 830 last night and on sunday. We cut all the plate by hand with my hilti jigsaw (tend to use the plasma on bigger stuff) and the cut pieces are before any minor sanding. Took our time and they came out damn near identical.

Yes it is. Didnt you have the truck on the trailer at B@P this year in the BB parking lot?

yes i had tech check it out

----------

The box we made will not work without serious mods so we will build a new one. I was given some wrong info and misinterpreted a part of that info. Was dealing with IED but then the guy finally said I should talk to someone who builds driveshafts for my type of application. I called Jess at HAD and first thing he told me to do was get angles at Static Ride Height. Well after doing everything Jess said we learned we could keep the “midship”u-joint where we wanted it with the angle and length changes through its travel.
I use to think it was the upper pockets that were mounted wrong. When we fixed the wheel base last year we had to put one trailing arm heim further out. Turns out the gmr mounts were not in same locaion, even though they welded them on it was not to bad were we couldn’t fix it with the heim. The problem we ran into was when Jess told us to cancel out the angle of trans which was 5 degrees at the pinion. We got it to 4.75 but as you can see the heim on wishbone has under a ˝” in the bung. The other side is already out, so we are going to make a new wishbone after expo. It needs to be change anyways, one tube was a little longer and a bigger problem is their not on the same plane. Probably a result of twisting when not using a jig. Anyways after those headahes we decided to jump back into cab and finish that up. Not going to touch rear center support mount until we have center support (ied poly or spicer 1.5748”) and possibly driveshaft to. I like to use the HAD pillow block but Jess suggested against it for my setup, I will be using the HAD midship setup though and having them build the driveshaft.

Got the red knobs, it works great.

Finished center console today with shut off switch, shifter, and intercom mounted. Also built a co-pilot handle bar will mount it in the truck tomorrow. Got the shifter in a nice position for first-third, we will be building a fiberglass console cover.

I thought I took a picture of where it came together, do that tomorrow. Here is the shifter and intercom mounts.

finally starting to look like a complete truck.

got the passenger handlebar in, old man is not as nimble as us young guys... going to have to buy him an hr with a hot young masseuse

got two gauges installed, these were easy.... installing the mechanical gauges are not going to be as easy. We are going to have to build a mount that the dash slips over the 3 mechanical gauges.

i was really hoping to get the 7200c, but it is a tad to big. The new hds 7m is a 1/2" skinnier and almost a 1/2" shorter. Will probably go this route, but don't know if I can justify the increase over the hds 5m for only a 1.5" bigger screen.

the radio is mounted

work so far, few gauges, radio, intercom, shifter. and master shut off

All gauges are in minus the tach I still need to get. There are going to be 3-5 lights behind the steering wheel, one above gps, and all the switches and breakers in the middle. Except the starter and horn button. Fuel level gauge, had to lower it a tad due to steering wheel mount bars.

the one gauge that stays in the dash on the passenger side

Water and trans temp

the gauges that will stay in the dash, plus you will have breakers, switches, and lights also.

third mech mounted (eng oil temp) and now that we completed the console fab and stuff, paint was next. I leave tomo to cali for a few days, their going to either build the fiberglass console, or cut underneath to 360 weld the seat mount tubes

some inspiration
