I never knew how nice a leather steering wheel could be, I almost want to not switch them out later, but the style of the wheel just dates the truck to me... feels like I'm driving something out of the 90s where as the 04 one looks and feels more modern.
And that's our Triumph Spitfire! Random picture drop:

the only thing I've noticed is the older leather wrapped wheel is narrower than the newer (04+ I guess) wheels. but I think the older wheel is more comfortable, the texture is nicer & the spokes are smaller. the newer ones remind me too much of my 08 super duty at work lol.
also cool little Triumph! what year is it?
i'll have to try and grab you a pic of the '64 ish MG my buddie has sitting in his barn.

Do you mean narrower as in less to grab when holding it? My first vehicle was a 06 Ranger (the white one in that picture) and holding that wheel is the most normal because of it... I almost feel like the older wheels are too fragile. The way I learned to hold that wheel was very comfortable for me and on these older wheels it just feels wrong (to each their own).
And I can't remember the year, late 60s or early 70s... I know it's newer than a 68 though. We also have enough parts to build a second one (minus the frame and drive train) sitting in our attic!
That'd be sweet! MG Migets and Triumph Spitfires are some of my favorite older cars (also have to throw in the 65 Stang and the Cobra)

yeah the actual "wheel" is narrower. it's funny I feel like most newer steering wheels are too fat for what i'm used to lol.
and it's nice to see a triumph without the big ugly crash bumpers on it lol. most of them that old around here are completely rotted away.
myself even though I lean towards 40's-80's American cars I do have a soft spot for the imports. when I was little my dad had 3-4 '58 Anglia's ( 2 coupes & 2 panel wagons IIRC), a '60 morris minor 1000, a '64 Cortina GT and a bunch of Datsun 510's.

You're not really alone with the newer wheels thing... I think the 04-06 wheel is as big as I like, newer cars just feel way too big.
I don't know why they are off in that picture, but I don't think the crash bumper looks too bad, this car was built at the end of the older body style and the start of the newer one, so it's pretty rare - from the factory it is equipped with the more stylish but not as "safe" equipment because they wanted to get rid of it (I think they did that with only about 500 of them and I don't remember which 2 styles, I think it's gen 2/3)
I once found a nice 68 blue one with dual white off center stripes for sale for $1000 back when I was 17 and almost bought it for a project car... in the end I didn't for some reason or another and I really regret it.
My soft spot honestly is anything older (American and some imports) that you can actually work on, 70s being the latest... However I've thought recently about trading my Ranger for a 83 to 87 idi super duty but I just can't let go.

(Shows how much research I've done then)
They aren't super duties? I didn't think they were 150s as I didn't think they ever had a diesel option in those...
As for power, idi engines have some great aftermarket support.

The name super duty didn't officially come about until the late 90s after they moved to the bubble body style that replaced the obs.

Re: Caitlin: the '03 EDGE
Small update, got a rear axle from a 07 level 2 today with similar miles as my truck. Will be swapping on disc brakes from a 2011 and changing the fluid before installing it.
