Cool Ranger named 'Gold Dust'

I've been doing a lot of stuff lately and I thought I'd share, in more detail of what's going through my head. Of course, lots of pictures.

So, first off, a list of what I have done in no particular order.

-Installed an OHC and painted it black. Also found a blue lens for it.
-Installed two lighted visors, matching tan. Driver's side of course with homelink.
-Installed blue LEDs in my HVAC, Gauge Cluster, and cruise pods.
-Installed a 'new' steering wheel. Same OEM style as the original but in better condition. Pulled it from an explorer.
-Installed a black 'Mustang' Dome. Actually came out of a mustang but can be found on other vehicles.
-Installed RGB Leds in my headlight switch and 4x4 switch just because.
-Installed an aftermarket radio in a new bezel to replace the old one which one of the previous owners broke.
-Installed a new instrument cluster bezel to replace the one I screwed up.
-Installed LEDs for my cruise control indicator, 4x4 lights, O/D on/off indicator, and turn signal indicator.
-Installed aftermarket headlights and taillights.
-Restored my 3rd cargo brake light bar. A big thank you to 'ChrisFix' for that video. Saved me 40 bucks.
-Installed LED lamps in the cargo lights.
-Installed a small switch in the OHC for my cargo lights. You're probably thinking 'but dude, there's already a switch for that'. While I had my headliner out, I wired the cargo lights into the dome light circuit so they'd come on when my doors open. Should I need (or want) to disable that I can with the flick of a switch.
-With the help of my father, we refinished my stock wheels, saving me a few hundred there.
-Rebuilt my back drum brakes. Took the drum off and parts actually fell out. Not to worry though, a quick set of shoes and springs, new cylinders and they're working just fine.
-Currently replacing the front calipers and having my rotors turned. Won't be until monday evening (7/20/2015) until I get them back.
-Painted tail pipe.
-Painted Reese Hitch.
-Installed chrome door lock pegs.
-Installed new shocks.
-Replaced broken rainguards.
-Removed tattered windshield tint stripe.
-Paint my disk brake calipers with some high-temperature paint. While you can't see them through the wheels, I do not like rust.
-Painted rear axel, differential, other shown rusty parts.
-Installed fog lights using the prewiring I have.
-Install AUX reverse lights w/ relay.

Now after that long list, here's a list of things I've thought about doing and plan to do in no particular order.

-Install power mirrors. Sick of bumping into them and finding I can't see cars behind me. I'll be going with the power 'flag' +06 style. I want power but don't want to get rid of my flags so the 06+ mirrors are perfect.
-Install a powerdome hood
-Replace the rear drum brakes with disk brakes once they're worn down again.
-Install a Flowmaster muffler with dual exit exhaust. Won't be 'true' dual, but close enough for me. The cats and everything before the muffler won't be touched. Muffler to tailpipes will be entirely replaced.

Now that part is out of the way so, the part everyone seems to like most is.... *drumroll* Pictures!

I don't have many right now, but here's what I do have. More to come around tuesday, the 21st of this month. Reason being is I don't want to be climbing in and out while it's on a jack with it's front calipers off. I don't feel like cleaning up brake fluid after I accidently step on the brake pedal and, well.... You know. I'll probably even do a video tour after I get the calipers on.

Either way, Here's what I've got. Again, listed in no particular order. Just posting everything I've got.

These are RGB LEDs in the switches. Unfortunately I don't have photos that are animated.

=================================

If you're wondering why the flashdrive, that's the one I bought for the radio. Got it at walmart, 20 bucks, 32gigs if anyone wants to know.

And of course, a photo of the day when I first took it home.

More pictures to come on/around tuesday. Not climbing in and out of it with two wheels off and no calipers. Just an accident waiting to happen.

If anyone has any ideas or suggestions, questions, or even just comments, I'm very pleased to hear them. So please, let me know what you think!

Brakes are on the truck and they work flawlessly. Tomorrow I'm going to flush the cooling system and dump more cleaner in, clean up the garage and reduce it to organized chaos, wash the truck then do that video. busy spiders have left my nice gold paint in cob webs and dust. Yuck.

Thank you! I was originally going to go with amber LEDs but decided blue would look best. Blue light also helps you stay awake so, double bonus.

...And here's the video. Please pardon my attempt at trying to be 'artistic'.

EDIT: Also, I have a change of plans as for fog lights. I wont' be going 4th gen. Instead, I'll be installing a fith generation XLT foglight bumper so I can keep the chrome and have some updated looks as well. It's gonna look mad.

Great video, nicely done. I hope you can figure out the back feed problems to the low 4X4 and speed control lights.

I will note, it doesn't seem to happen when the engine is running; but it does still when the key is in the 'run' position, engine off. It's only present when the engine isn't actually running and then, it makes no real difference.
Even so, something to note is that the backfed LEDs only run at about 1/4th their normal brightness, making it easy to tell on vs off.

Thanks for the compliment btw. Do you have a build log for yours?

No build log, just a few mods I have picked up from this forum. We have a lot of creative ideas on here. Thanks for sharing

You're welcome. I'll continue to do so; if only for a place to keep a log of what I've done.

I thought I'd post a small warning for those looking to do the LED gauge cluster mod. Do not take your needles off unless you have a way of accurately recalibrating them all.

Right now mine are so out of whack that I'm shocked I can tell how fast I'm going or how much gas is left in my tank. This weekend, I'll be pulling my gauge cluster back out *sigh* and recalibrating it. I don't exactly want to tear into my interior yet again but I will say, it will be worth it for the peace of mind knowing I won't get pulled over for going ten over when I didn't even know it, or running out of gas when the needle says it's half full.

Fog lights are now on the table. Grabbing the valance off this 1997 Eddie Bauer Explorer. Wrong color but that's nothing a can of paint can't fix. The lenses on this one are in good structural condition, but much like the headlights they're so yellow you'd loose a minion on it. So another 97 (or close) will be donating it's lenses that are in better condition. I'll still do the sand and reclear on them regardless, but why settle for corn-cob lenses when I get some that are more off-white? Somebody coin these phrases!
