Default Le Goat's "Black Sheep"

This is going to be the log of my truck. This will list current mods with pics, mods that I'm currently working on, and mods I plan on doing eventually. As well as records of issues and fixes. I hope not to bore many of you, but with this thing costing me 22k ( 12,396 +taxes +charges +stealership fees +more taxes) this will be a slow moving thread once I get it all updated.

----------

This is her, The Black Goat. Completely stock - 2.3L M5OD with 3.73 gears, and 4 wheel disc brakes. 67k kms

Within the first weeks, I got the oil changed in the engine, the trans and the diff. As I decided after reading a few reviews of the stealership I bought it off of, were full of crap and most likely didn't do anything they said they did. Good choice too.
The diff fluid needed changing, and considering that the tag was missing off the diff, I assumed something was done to it by the P.O. or the used car dealership. Suspicious, but I won't be taking it back there to find out.
The trans fluid was brownish and really watery. No idea why, but explains why I was having a hard time with 1st and 2nd. After some nice new synthetic mercon V atf, she works like a charm.

First Mod I did was the K&N air filter drop-in. Too much money-too little benefits (if any) for a C.A.I.
Second mod, thanks to FRF, was the Throttle cable mod. Currently I have 2 tiny zip ties on it, roughlyabout 3/16 of slack taken up by the 2 ties.
Third mod, which isn't really a mod but it looks sweet, was the purchase of the fibreglass tonneau cover off an O.R.C. member. If you're on here, thanks again Matt. The Best part about this 'mod' was not only the price, but the experience of trying to get the tonneau to properly line up, open and close, by myself in -28C degree weather. It's the most fun I've had outdoors in the winter, while not driving.

The forth mod was an 8 ball shift knob, which was supposed to go onto a shifter I'd JB cold welded a 4 inch extension into. Only to find out the orientation of the shifting pin was different. I bought 2 shifters from a local u-pull type junkyard, and had everything ready to swap, when I found out my pin had the retaining nut facing the passenger side, as opposed to facing the rear. So I scrapped the shifter with the extension, and just threw the knob onto my stock shifter arm.

The fifth (and sixth?) mod came about, thanks to the Brantford O.R.C and R.A. meet. My very own FX4 shifter! (If you're on here Ben, Thanks again) Installing it was a breeze...well partially. I did it in about 30 mins, as I realized last inute, that I needed a boot. I grabbed one of my Harley bandanas ( I love Harleys, but all I can afford is a couple bandanas and a couple t-shirts), Cut a hole and just placed it on. Then came a moment of another epiphany. The threads on the shifter are 12mmx1.75....the threads in my 8 ball are 16mmx1.5. Thankfully, to install it originally, i purchased a universal adapter for attaching it to my old shifter. works like a charm, but I hope it doesn't mess up the thread on the FX4 shifter.

----------

Now for a Current list of plans-in-the-works.
These are Buckets I'm working on installing. By working on, I actually mean I have them, but they need cleaning, some nice seat covers, and for me to get off my @$$ and actually do it.

At the same time I do that, I also have to tear up the carpet to figure out where the hell all this water came from during the winter.

I Don't have any pics of the center console, and, to be honest, I'm not even sure how to go about it (I'm sure there's a few write ups here somewhere), or whether it's even from a ranger. I was told it was, and I'm pretty sure it'll fit, but I'll get some pics of it soon. I need to clean that up, and possibly paint it before I go about installation.

----------

Somewhere in there, I also got a Harley Davidson steering wheel cover for my birthday. That's installed - no pics though.

Here's a video I put up of my truck screaming in agony. E-brake is the only plausible source. I'll have to put off fixing it until I have the time and money to fix it.

Well, I'm gettin ready for a 19+hour drive out to nova scotia. Got the tonneau off and my 37'' DeeZee chest tollbox installed today. also replaced the third brake light bulb, which now works ( somehow the dealership I bought it from didn't bother changing it? Well they also didn't change the tranny fluid, or the diff fluid or did all the brakes like they said they did - so I really shouldn't be surprised)

Update - My bucket seats and console idea has kinda gone to crap. The place I put them for storage has caused both to grow mold. Both seats will now need complete reupholstering - I'm not a happy camper about it.

On a side note, I'm browsing for an over-the-rail box liner, and a cap for my trip out east, on my local kijiji and FaceBook groups. Not having much luck, but with so little money, I can't say I'm surprised.

On something not completely unrelated - I got bored and went for a drive Sat out of sheer boredom. Ended up getting a few nice pics ( for being taken with an S4 anyway) and now onto the pic whoring :-) These pics cost me a few grams of blood. Apparently mosquitos are absolutely ravaging at sundown. Taken near Brite, Ontario - Canada

Photo I entered in the Ranger Photo Contest - She's nothing special, but she's mine.

Post Re: Le Goat's "Black Sheep"

Alright, so it's been a while, and I figured I'd give another update.

Last time I was in a mad rush to get ready for a drive out to Cape Breton...well surprisingly it worked out better than I had hoped. The weather seriously sucked on my way down, pretty much torrentially poured all the way from an hour east of Riviere du Loop, to River Bourgeois. So glad my boss mentioned getting rain-x, shit works wonders.

I spent a week there, touring around locally, found few old logging roads, and had a blast...nothing serious of course. Here' a pic after I loaded her up for the drive back home.

A wee bit heavy on the ass-end, but pulled through like rocky balboa.....with boobs.....and stuff. Pretty sure there was about 6-700 lbs of tools, picture albums and other assorted crap.

More recently I found the money to do a few things.
Spark plugs and wires have been changed (Autolite Copper's for experimentation purposes, and prestolite wires) and most enjoyably, switched out the stock speakers, all 4, with Pioneer G6845r's. As of right now (basically 2am) I look at her from my window...and can't wait to go for a quick rip with my tunes a cranked. From what I've heard so far, from testing to make sure I didn't accidently switch polarity, they sound a shit-tonne better than the stockies.
Next after doing another couple weeks of OT, will be either a 2.25in/2.25out Magnaflow with a turndown before the axle, or if some decent pioneer HU's go on sale, I'll be doing that next.

Ah yes, and I've decided once Winter has come and gone, and I get more money, I'll be doing the front end - lower ball joint, upper contol arms from MOOG, lowering springs for the front, and flip kit from DJM (2-3)....Apparently I'm told an alignment cannot be done due to play in the ball joints. Personally I think they just don't want to do it.

Once again if I bore you with nonsensical things, My Baa-aaa-aaa-ad

Holy crap, it's been a year since I've updated this. This is gonna be a long one. So ove the past summer I decided I was gonna do a cheap drop. Cut some coil spring and do the shackle flip. Long story short, that didn't quite work out to plan. I've ended up with 3" lowering coils up front and the DJM 3" kit out back. Can't say it rides good...cause it doesn't, but looks sexy to me (pics in next post). I haven't gotten around to do anything else really, but as of now, I've got a Hurst Core shifter ordered plus a 3.75" extension and an ivory white cue ball knob as well.

Smile Re: Le Goat's "Black Sheep"

Let the pic whoring begin!!!
First, this was an experiment I did earlier this year before dropping her. Got set of 4 rims with 245/75r16's for $80. Decided to see what the 'roadster' style would look like. Doesn't look bad, kinda funny, but handled and accelerated like crap (tires were 11% or so bigger than the stock tires I had, which I figure would be equal to going to 3.55 gearing).

After that I Bought a Canuck Motorsports 3/5 drop kit w/shocks, and installed them. This is a 3/5 drop with incorrect fkip kits bracket installed. The axle tube size is different on the newer stock rear disc brake units, and with this setup my axles were more or less free to rotate if I nailed the skinny pedal. Plus I was completely riding the bumpstops, both front and back. *Rubber block suspension is NOT a nice ride, at all*

After much screwing around I finally got the right flip kit bracket thing, and finalized the drop at what is supposed to be 3/3, but seems more like 3/4.
1st pic - Installed coils incorrectly, riding high side of springs.

2nd pic- A reference pic for what it looked like at stock height.

3rd pic - Coils installed correctly, plus DJM upper control arms to fix camber issue *3" coils drop too much to be aligned with just the camber bolt kits. DJM uppers can fix this, however with stock lower control arms ends up crating a bad caster angle. I currently have apx almost 6 degrees of caster, while specs are supposed to be about 2 degrees*

As of now I've changed the upper arm, sway bar links, lower balljoint, lowering coils, inner and outer tie rods. Now all I can do is wait for my new shifter to come in, install it, and wait for next summer. I plan on putting DJM lower and coils to get some clearance up front (about 1/2" of space between my new 3/8" energy suspension low profile bump stop and the frame - Not a nice ride, but it's getting too cold for me to want to work on things) and a DJM mini notch (cause same issue). I also have to get the ARM100 from rock auto and a new arm rest padding for the JY console I picked up. Probably make a weekend project for me, to do a 40/40 seat mod, the console, and probably do a bit of preventative maintainence on the cab floor.

Couple pics I forgot:
Before DJM uppers-

After-

Before white face swap-

After white face swap-

^I swapped the faces with an FX4, needles and the bezel thing from a Sport model.
PS - nevermind the TCS and ABS lights. They're on because I currently have my front DS abs sensor disconnected. Why? TCS sucks.
