Well I ran into a problem. I drove it a couple times and it seemed ok ran good and drove good so I decided to drive it to work monday. On the way home the oil pressure gauge started going crazy. I rolled down the window and could hear the valves rattling. I baby'ed it home and pulled the cam sncro to check the gear and it was ok. Put it back together and fired it up and it was back to normal. Tokk it for a ride ...still ok I did a little research and found out it common for oil pump screens to plug up. I won't sell it to someone until I trust it.... Well I pulled the motor and pulled the pan and as I expected the pickup was clogged. I changed the pickup and the rod bearings. The mains still looked ok so I just checked them. I managed to get the motor dropped back in but not hooked up. Here's a few pics ..

That looks like a lot of grime in there. Is that normal for a motor with that many miles or did that come from not changing the oil regularly?

No it shouldn't be that dirty, they obviously didn't change the oil very often.

At least you didn't find giant freakin' holes in the front right above the frame rails. I did. It sucks.

I haven't been posting much due to my brother being in the hospital and other complications but I was in the neighborhood where my daughter works so it created a photo op with both my rangers together. The trucks not actually "done" but I have been driving it for a week or so...its running good! The sun wasn't cooperating so I had to lighten the pics a little...
