Love this truck! Super clean and classy. Those rims blacked out look great on your truck. Great looking truck man.

Re: Project "Keep It Simple!" 09 XL 2wd
Absolutely love your truck. It is by far one of the cleanest, most simple examples of a 2wd Ranger I've seen. I always love seeing pictures of it. I think the Firestones look good on there. When I put new wheels and tires on my truck I went with 235/75-15's. I think they're a good compromise between 225/70 and 31's. I think they work well for a stock suspension 2wd. I also love the black stock wheels as well. I still have my set sitting in my storage shed out back. I'm thinking of having them powdercoated black just to keep as an extra set of wheels. Nice to see what they look like on a very similar truck, aside from the color.

Thanks gents!
I wish my rims were powdercoated. Only time will tell how long the paint will last on them.

Re: Project "Keep It Simple!" 09 XL 2wd
I swapped rims and tires this weekend. Got this set for a crazy good deal. Selling my Firestones tonight. 235 75 15 total terrain a/t2 in an LT rating by Motomaster (Canadian Tire house brand) on 15x7 American Racing Baja II. The rims needed a good clean up (hit them with alumibrite acid and scrubbed) but the tires are brand new. They seem a bit noisy but have a decently aggressive tread pattern. Definitely heavier than my 225s but they look good.
Sorry for the poor quality pics

Garfield you have the roll n lock bed cover? Is it worth the money to get secondhand? I really want one for college but want to make sure that I'm not going to be wasting money. And like Skylark said, your truck looks great 👍 nice color 👍

Re: Project "Keep It Simple!" 09 XL 2wd
Thanks gents!
No I have the bakflip. It's a cool cover but I wouldn't pay the price it costs new. It is practical for locking the bed (with a tailgate handle lock) and the whole bed can still be used, however mine isn't fully waterproof and the rubber parts seem to be showing a bit of wear. It's still a damned nice cover though, practical for my needs.

Re: Project "Keep It Simple!" 09 XL 2wd
A little update on the truck:
New shocks all around
New upper control arms (w balljoints)
New lower control arms (w balljoints)
New inner and outer tierod ends
New pinion seal
Suspension was a hard job in the backyard but I'm glad I got it all done. I went with a Mevotech supreme greasable kit from Rock Auto.
Rust proofing this week and we're good! I'll just have to fix the annoying high pitch squeak/rattle with the exhaust when at near stall/takeoff RPMs and I'll be good!

Re: Project "Keep It Simple!" 09 XL 2wd
I've put some miles on the new suspension. The Mevotech Supreme kit seems to be of good quality, everything feels as it should. I will replace the swaybar end links and bushings soon as they are the only old part of the suspension. Anybody have any cheap suggestions?
I swapped air filters and removed the intake silencer to see the difference. Power doesn't change any but it sounds better at WOT. Not sure if I'll leave it that way though, the stock setup is a bit more water resistant. I also had to change the flasher relay as the flashers were only working half of the time.
Apart from that I'm going to coat the frame and underbody with Krown KL73 this weekend, for rustproofing. No other plans since at this point she's getting up there in age and I just want to keep her running well. I'd also like to polish the wheels but it's a big job from what I see.

Re: Project "Keep It Simple!" 09 XL 2wd
I took my intake silencer off also a few weeks back, didn't notice anything for power but it did sound better haha
