I'm kind surprised that you haven't convinced your dad about getting 06+ mirrors rather than the kind he has. You've mentioned before that you liked those a lot and have upgraded your trucks mirrors already. Great trucks, both yours and your dad's.

I'm suprised too, he really likes mine but I guess he just doesn't want to get rid of something that already works great... Mabe if I tempt him with power ones? Haha, time will tell!

And thank you! We really like them!

At the time of writing this, Penguin is 2,300 miles away from the 200,000+ club. Rust has opened a hole in the back right side of the cab, and the radiator has sprung a leak we need to track down. The front right headlight I'm is wobbly and had a turn signal bulb needing replacement. When taken out I realized the PO was in some sort of accident which broke a mount and the turn signal mounting, so the back was plastered in tar for an easy fix, so I'll be replacing either that headlight or both.

Now, for some good news...

I found some 08 mirrors in the junkyard but gave my dad first dibs at them. After he drove my truck, he wanted them put on ASAP.

And while I had the headlights out I figured that would be a good time to swap some 06+ corners in.

TL;DR: Old dogs can learn tricks - old trucks can get new mods.

How did you dewobble your headlight? Haha mine has the same issue. Penguin's looking good, he's lived an eventful life. Best of wishes to his future, hopefully uneventful drives.

Sometime this week I'll be going to the junkyard to pull a new headlight. Sure all I really need is the bulb socket and a lower mount (both can be taken off easily) but then I have to clean all that black crap off and I just don't want to deal with that.

For all the beatings he's taken (totalled 3+ times) and the miles he's acquired all in the rust belt, he's not doing bad at all for a 14 year old truck. My only worry is that when the cab gets worse, if we can't find a reasonably priced replacement, I may have to part with my birthday buddy.

So far the coolant leak is still there, but the engine is having no problems with it as of now.

The headlight still wobbles... When I went to the junkyard for a new one it was $35 and that's more than I want to spend for one used headlight so I took the parts I needed off of it and am just going to clean the gunk off of the back - way cheaper of a fix than $35!

And getting closer to the 200k club.

Update on the coolant leak: both hoses are and and are getting replaced.

He's still chugging! No issues other than rust, so we are debating buying a Ranger with no rust on the cab and a blown something and doing a cab swap.
