I would read their fine print and what they warrant on their oil changes, see if there's a loophole.

I'm guessing in their defense "his truck was getting old"
Cause I feel there's no physical proof that their oil change destroyed your engine. You wouldn't have any physical proof since it's just a little oil change.

I'm sorry about that mess man.

Now you see the rut I'm in. I'm basically filling the gap on anything else they can say. I have the po saying he did all needed maintenance - even paying what I think is way too much to get rid of all rust. I also have mechanics saying that (a video i took) sounds like there is no oil getting to the engine (because they added 3 extra quarts and over pressurized the pan). They are also claimimg it was a bad oil pump but again, I have a mechanic saying if a pump is dead for 40 miles, it won't just start again, especially if it runs for another 3k miles with no issues. Can you think of anything else that I need?

Well, after lots of waiting, I won the court case... but only got $1k when a certified and rebuilt engine costs $2600. Now, if it were my choice alone (traded trucks, still in the Ranger family tho) I would do a 5.0 swap, but my dad (who now has it) wants to keep the 3.0 for reliability. As we speak Penguin is having a heart transplant done and I am planning an interior redo.

So far, we have found nice seats we want:

uploadfromtaptalk1438685110281.jpg

uploadfromtaptalk1438685127026.jpg

We are also taking out the carpet to put in rubber, so we'll either cut out a sheet of rubber to be the same as the carpet, or just bedliner the whole floor and call it good.

Also on the list:

We used to have an Explorer (long story short, engine block saved my family's life) and so my dad wants an OHV

While we are on the ceiling, we need a new headliner. This is one place I am totally lost. All the liners at the jy are ruined because every truck was rolled. I don't know how to make one of these and have no idea where to buy one. (HELP!!)

Finally, I need to replace the lighting in the gauge cluster (with LEDs)

Yeah Merica!!! Haha but seriously!

For the headliner I would take it to a custom shop any day. There's a shop in Los Angeles that did my buddy's Jeep for like $160. Of course you don't live anywhere near here but thats just how his situation played out.

For the floor, I can't remember but I'm assuming you have carpet that's worn out, and want to switch to vinyl. Yeah man, vinyl floors are great, they keep clean so easily! They can be found online (maybe) but I would also say a custom shop, may have cheap prices for that as well. Maybe even something that sticks better than the factory vinyl (mines all wrinkly)

For the engine, I'm glad it turned In your favor! $1,000 will go a long way.

Thanks for the heads up on all that! I'll start looking for custom shops for the headliner (and maybe flooring) but that would be nice for me because then I can install my OHC first and then have them put something around it.

As for the flooring, yeah, sure there's cigarette burns, mysterious white, red, and blue greenish stains ('Murica! &#128540 but mostly my family believes that carpet has no place in a truck.

Finally, for that money going a long way, it really does! Shop estimates the truck will be running again worst case on Monday and we are going heavy on the interior redo right afterwards... not sure how involved I will be at first but I'll try to update with pics as much as I can!

So I am getting excited, I get to pick up my Birthday bud tomorrow after work and do some mods! I only regret he could've been on the road as he turned 13 😳.

But he should be running tomorrow so we are going to have some fun!

First up is a new radio head unit, a Pioneer DEH-X6700BS!

uploadfromtaptalk1439334590858.jpg

After that I will replace all the dieing Instrument cluster bulvs with blue LEDs (Different than what is going into River/Caitlin to compare what style is better)

uploadfromtaptalk1439334690934.jpg

Then I'll replace the CHMSL with the same LED bulb I already installed into River/Caitlin (yes, the truck with 2 names)

Next up? Who knows! But I'll make it up as I go.

Also: PLEASE SUGGEST THINGS no matter how simple or crazy. Penguin is now my dad's truck and if he likes the ideas, they will happen as he is not as limited with a budget as I am. There is also talk of a lift (what type would you suggest if he just wants to raise ride height?)

Pics coming tomorrow when I pick him up!

This weekend I cleaned up some major rust

uploadfromtaptalk1440517743286.jpg

Saw the seat swap my dad did

Went to the jy and got a airbag switch and cubby combo

(Sorry, forgot to take pics)

And I forgot to post this last time: I put in a little something to spice up the gauge cluster

Just a few updates,

First, my dad had some tips a while ago about some $20 product that completely refreshened the headliner and carpet, so it smells great and in spots looks new!

Next, I sealed a deal for a rust free bed to swap on, it'll be a great improvement!

Finally, He is going into the shop as a allaround brake job is needed as well as the airbag light off.

Sorry for lagging in updates and such, but I am not seeing Penguin as much as I used to - it sucks.

Sad update time:

Today my dad was t-boned in an intersection. As long as the axle isn't f'd up, we are in good shape. There are two dings on the cab and the bed along with some other damage... how bad do you think this is?

On a happier note yeaterday he finally got a cool mustang dome light.
