*BACK STORY*

My dad bought this truck for 500$ in 2002 from a dealership in Miami.
It was his daily driver for about 7 years and our "scoutmobile" when my brother and I were in boy scouts. When the oil pan gasket went in mid 2009, the Ranger went to our back yard, where it sat for about 3 years. When I graduated high school, my dad and I agreed that I could have the truck if I helped him get it running.

That was July 2012:

And so, my adventure, and current obsession with the Ford Ranger began.

Cool Re: "Falcon" '94 2.3 Build Thread

With some experience in the garage, I quickly came to respect the amount of work that had to be done on the old girl.

Soon enough, we got everything back together and she ran (a bit rough, but I was happy to have my own truck!).

----------

Since then I've put 40,000 miles on the truck and I've put in a few mods.

Interior LED's:

Those are wired into the headlight switch.

The new seats and center console (from a '93 splash at the yard), and Explorer OHC:

A Century Brand topper which I bought and sold in less than a year, along with the escape roof rack which was trimmed to fit the cab:

And then the run-of-the-mill mods like the dual spark, sound baffle, and throttle cable mods

----------

My latest project was putting in "factory" fog lights:

Right:

Left:

Switch:

And the final product (the LED running lights are cheapy Walmart lights, I wired those in about a year ago for shiggles):

Did a little bit today.

I started off by changing the little mounts for my 3D Maglight. The old ones were pretty beat up and the screws were rusted out, so I replaced everything and siliconed underneath to seal them up.

I also worked a bit on my OHC. I really did a sloppy job when I installed it in January, and I'm paying for it now. I smoothed out the slots for the tabs with a hand file and a drill. Its a bit better now, and it doesn't rattle as much. Woo.

Thanks man. That's why I went with green actually. I figured it's a pretty neutral color. They can be a little too bright sometimes, so I might try to cover them with some masking tape or something.

Here's a few more pics of the interior LED's. They are wired into the main light switch, but I might move them to an aux switch.

Some new work on the falcon!

Changed the tie rods, but that's not too interesting.

I spent Halloween making removable spotlamps!

They were old fog lamps left over from our old suburban. So I put them to use. The bracket is made of steel that we had laying around. They got plasti-dip and are wired to a cigarette lighter plug. The whole assembly is held onto the roof rack via hoseclamps. Not to bad for a free little build.

Thanks! They were very simple to wire in, especially if you put them in with the headlight switch.

A friend of mine had black 95 splash 2.3, that thing was a little beast.

So yesterday, I hit up the junkyard on a mission:

To Find a Class II tow receiver.

I did not find it. Instead, I found 1 mostly eaten 97 Ranger among some three dozen explorers. Says something about these little trucks
I also found a sick little jeep.

Anyway. I picked up an auto dim mirror off a 97 expo, and I tried installing it today.

Needless to say. I spent 5 hours pulling apart the interior and wiring this rig up. unfortunately, I still have manual lights and no auto-dim.

On the bright side, I did change my check engine light, which had burnt out, and found some 18 Y/O lotto tickets and a fortune.

I'm going to have to wait until probably next Sunday to crack open the dash again and take another swing.

In the meantime, I might try to make a wiring diagram for us 94 down gen III's who want this mod.

yeah. I'll be having to crack open my dash one day, to put some led lights for sped emoter area. Then I'll probally put a replacement dash in. It has one little crack, it's hard to see, but I want it to look brand spanking new.
