Q is what I nicknamed my 2009 Sport 2.3L 5-speed RWD Ranger and decided to use as my username. So far, aside from my cap, he's stock.

image-2749314849.jpg

What I've done so far:
Took out factory bedliner, fixed the paint on spots it had rubbed off, took care of some rust on the lip of the bed
Read about BedRug, didn't want to spend $450 on one, made my own with some outdoor carpet and foam
Installed my cap after fixing it up a bit and painting it to match
Did the under-hood LED mod

Planned mods:
Explorer OHC, bought on here from RANGAAA
Car computer
Explorer center console (might be tougher with manual shift)
Some off road mods to gain a little more capability there

I'll post stuff here as I go along, as much for my own records as to show off :-P I welcome any suggestions!

Enjoy!

Did the throttle cable mod this weekend. I can't place exactly what, but I have noticed an improvement in driving.

Installed Herculiner roll-on bed liner this past weekend. I'm pretty happy with the results so far. It seems tough and I love how it looks. I ended up doing three coats of the stuff, so it's on there pretty thick.

Couple things to note if you consider doing it:
-The scuff pad they give you with the kit sucks. Everything I read about prep said a good scuffed surface is required for best results. I used a drill with a wire cup wheel on the floor and hand-sanded the sides and back with 60-grit sandpaper.
-This stuff is messy. It splatters easily. If you get it on your skin, clean it off immediately, or that spot will be non-skid and corrosion protected for weeks. :-P
-Use the good kind of masking tape, like painters tape. I used Frog Tape, which promised the best results and worked well.
-Tape off EVERYTHING you don't want to be covered. Looking back, I wish I had taped off the bed bolts. I don't anticipate having to remove the bed anytime soon, but it probably would have been better not to paint over them.

I had only one setback, and it wasn't really related to the liner. I decided I wanted to remove the cargo tie downs before I applied the liner. The bolts were on there tight, so my dinky socket wrench wouldn't budge them. I took out my breaker bar...and promptly broke them. Every. Single. Bolt. I probably should have stopped after the first tie down, but I didn't. Now I have eight bolts with no heads. I drilled out two and rethreaded them, but I decided to just apply the first coat before dark (it takes a while. It got dark. My girlfriend stopped by to see how things were going and ended up being super awesome and holding the flashlight for me). BUT, I still have six more headless bolts to drill out. Hooray!

Anyway, it's done and looks great!
