Re: David's 2003 FX4 build
I'm thinking of upgrading brakes. Any thoughts? Should I go with a drilled/slotted rotor? Any options of going bigger?

Can't go bigger without new brackets and calipers. Your best bet is drilled and slotted rotors and either Hawk or EBC pads. A rear disc conversion would be the best bet.

I did go with slotted EBC rotors and pads. Big improvement. I think you will see more effect there than with the rear discs due to the front/back bias. Of course you can always do rear discs AND the front upgrade.

I was looking at the EBC Stage 4 kit. I think I will go with that one. I'm going to leave my rear brakes as drum. I'm going to need front brakes soon so I figure I may as well upgrade them.

Those rotors are the ones I went with, and the green stuff pads. I noticed a big difference.

I was looking on Carid.. I think the EBC Stage 3 kit is what I need. However I did notice that the rotor is a 12in diameter. Isn't the stock Ranger rotor a 10 in? The fitment check that the website has says it'll fit my truck, however, when I was looking on Summit, I could not find a kit that will fit the Ranger according to the websites fitment check.
Does the brakes come with a new backing plate or something? I just want to make sure I'm ordering the correct items. Let me know what you have, part numbers and such if you could please.

Re: David's 2003 FX4 build
I bought from http://www.buybrakes.com/, couldn't find a stage three truck kit for your Ranger there. I will look up the part number on the rotors I ordered, see what the description says. I would just order the pieces, and not worry about the kit so much. But I will get back to you on this.

carid is overpriced dude. Go to Summit Racing. Drilled and slotted rotors are $50/each then just pick your pads.

That would be great if you could find the part number for me. Thank you.

Re: David's 2003 FX4 build
So I'm guessing this is what I should be getting but just wanted to confirm.

They have cheaper rotors. Drilled and slotted for $50/each. Then buy EBC pads

Update:
I installed EBC brake pads and rotors on June 7th at 138,439 miles. Painted my caliper black too.
