Default chris's hooptie foxbody thread.

Some of you might know but this car has been a gigantic pain in my ass so far. Not really the cars fault, but the whole deal was terrible. Took almost a year to get it. lol.

anyways, its an 1988 mustang gt. 5.0, 5 speed. Needs paint. 140k miles. runs and drives.

current mods:
Trickflow intake mani
fender fed CAI
MAF conversion.
bbk long tube headers
bbk offroad hpipe
flowmaster dumps
built 3.73 gears
LX tails
LX wheels
and a few other small things here and there.

future mods:
gauges (oil press, water temp, voltage)
short throw shifter
heads and cam (way down the road depending on a few things)
paint (rotrod flat black
clear oem style headlight kit (already have)
1.6 roller rockers
20% tint
40th anv. wheels (4 lug 17x8, 17x10)
moar lower

That pretty much sums up the intro

a few other pics..

first drive after I replace the starter.

trickflow intake mani (long story)

my cars lol

So, this brings up to current things I need to do in the next few weeks. The car had an oil pressure issue (at least with the oem gauges), but who knows if it is truly an issues because the factory gauges are garbage.. This is part of the reason it took me so long to get it, because in his defense he was worried that it really did have an issue. This is why i am looking at gauges. So anyways, When I was playing around with it, always showed oil pressure.

Where I live, i cant leave all of my cars there. Luckily, I have a place to store them all. So last thursday I drove it for the first time back to where I store it (30-40 min drive) and the goofy oil pressure issue surface to me for the first time. I notice that I nad no oil pressure. I pulled over, heard no noises that would be a sign of no oil. Checked the oil and looked into the oil fill and had oil there so I continued on. I noticed under decel, with my foot completely off the gas pedal, I had normal pressure. As soon as I rest my foot on the pedal (not pushing down on it at all) I would immediately loose it. Im really thinking its electrical. But I digress.

Did a bunch of small this this weekend. Change the oil and power steering fluid, clean the interior, found a vac leak and a few other small things. Runs much better. No crazy noises anymore. The oil was clean and when I cut open the filter it wasnt anything bad, other than how dirty the oil was lmao. still shows bad oil pressure but im certain that its either the sending unit, or wiring that is causing the issue. Also, replaced the starter solenoid and positive battery terminal. That was causing alot of issues that are now completely gone. woot woot!

So, i bought 3 gauges and gauge mounting that Ill be installing soon. hopefully that fixes that.

old nasty starter

new headlights. I was going to wait till the car was painted but the oem lights were so yellow that it looked like I had candles as headlights.

cleaned the interior. not bad imo. needs a few things but nothing major.
