Want to start a build thread to keep track of my progress and get suggestions. Also if I don't start now it will become too much to try and organize, as I have many more plans for the future of my ranger. As stated, this is my daily driver and only vehicle so far. Does not see much off road action, mostly forest service roads and the occasional off the grid treks.
so here goes.
Got my 2005 XLT 4x4 4.0 in Jan 2011 with 117k on it. It was super clean, and was a fleet vehicle for a small security system installing buisness so it was religiously maintained(the carfax was 13 pages of dealership maintenance),and not even a fender bender. Dealer wanted 13k so needless to say after laughing in the salesmans face, almost walking off the lot, and some head scratching/tire kicking, I felt like I got a decent deal at $8900 out the door. Here it is the day I got it.

First thing I did was all the usual fluid and filter changes, intalled a k&n air filter, and of course joined FRF!

Shortly after that I got my bug guard, window visors, and Aries brush guard on

Next I put on a led tailgate lightbar that works with the blinkers. Sorry for the shitty night pics.

Got sick of the antanna banging into every low hanging branch. At the time I was low on $$ so I did a "DIY" Shorty myself using part of a bbq lighter, and plastidip lol. Worked out ok and more important, I like it!

Then I got an led third breaklight

Got some black Buggman grill and tailgate emblems from Bob C.!

Replaced all four shocks with some rancho rs5000s as the ones that where on there had never been replaced. Easy job that only took me an hour so didnt get many pics.

Then I got to work on the interior.
Painted the glovebox, airbag switch cover, ashtray, and driver kickpanel with satin black krylon fusion. Turned out good but it has not been as durable as I hoped so I will be redoing it with something else in the future.

Then I recovered my headliner with black ballistic nylon(had some extra laying around), put in a mustang dome, and OHC.
Did all three at once so I didnt have to keep taking my headliner and trim apart.

Thought I had some better pics of the OHC but I guess not. Thing works great and though time consuming is one of my favorite mods.

Next I painted my ugly tailpipe with some rustoleum 2000 black paint.

Found some led ghost lights on eBay for $8 and couldn't resist. Looks friggin sweet and I always get heads turning and compliments! They came with the sized drill bit and thanks to reconjb's door puddle light how to, wiring was a breeze.

The lights sit really flush in the door so no worries about smashing anything.

Then I finally broke down and got the led tails I had been looking at since I did the tailgate bar and third bl. A great deal doesn't hurt either lol.

Not bad for $80 shipped to my door, and bright as hell!

And the last mod to date, are my new blacked out headlight housings and modded 06+ corners. Got the corners from a member and heads from eBay.
Total cost to me was a little less than what it would have costed if I did the mod myself, screwed them up and had to buy more lol! So I didnt mind
Here is a pic halfway through with only one side done.

Makes a huge difference in the look of the truck!

Got some escape v6 badges and plastidipped them, and my ranger emblems.

Mods with no pics:
Blinker mod
Foglight mod
Throttle cable mod

So there is how he sits today.
My wishlist:
06+ power mirrors and emblems
Billet grill
Buggman grill letter blanks(if I get the billet grill)
Oem fender flares
Black carpet
Expo center console
Bedrug
Maybe cablights, but that would require a lift lol.

Things I will be doing sooner:
New exhaust as the stock is beginning to degrade and rattle a lot. I could probably just replace the hangers and straps but I figure if I'm gettin under the truck, a Gibson catback upgrade would be a better use of my time!
Black rims and falken wildpeak 265/75r/16s when I need new shoes.

Long start to a slow but hopefully value added build.
Let me know what you think, comments and questions welcome!

What/ where would I search to purchase the led tail light strip? And how did you install the ghost light? Drilling into my doors does not seem appealing.

I think I just went on amazon and searched 49 inch led tailgate light.
You have to drill into the bottom of the door but the ghost lights came with a sized drill bit so it was pretty easy.
Measure 3 times and drill once and all that. Pretty easy though

Feels like forever since my last project but this weekend I was finally able to spend some time on the truck.
Goodbye 60/40 seats,

Hello SHORTY!

Now I just need to find the padded part of the armrest!
