Default Project Sinister Sleeper 302

I decided to create a project thread so I can track my progress and maybe share some of my ideas with fellow members.

1991 Ranger XLT

302 swap from a 91 mustang

heres pics from the craigslist ad before I picked up the truck:

pics from when I got it home:

Youtube Idle video:

First few things I did was new serp belt, and water pump.

Needed a rear view mirror, and I swapped the side mirrors because I thought that the stock ones were the most god awful things known to man kind.

Next I plastidipped the ENTIRE truck! Couldn't stand the paint, wanted to keep it low budget so I did it myself, for less than $400, I bought the procarkit from dipyourcar.com, which included 3 gallons of flat black, sprayer with vacuum motor, painters tape, respirator, mixing sticks etc.

New filter

Swapped the carb from a Edelbrock 650 to a Holley 750 with dual fuel feeds that was built by a good friend of mine for his 302 Ranger:

One of my front tires was consistently leaking air, so I swapped my wheels to an old set of mustang bullitts that I had lying around.

staggered 17x9 front and 17x10.5 rear

They rub very slightly in front when you do a full rotation of the steering wheel, other than that the ride is better and she picks up better.

Less rotational mass = MORE POWER!

Thanks for looking, feel free to chime in with comments.

Last but not least, I decided to throw in a few pics of my other cars:

You realize that truck is the exact opposite of sleeper right?

So you bought it swapped?

Other than the 5.0 badges, and hood gauges, nothing really gives it off.

I understand that sleepers usually look nothing more then daily commuter cars, however in my opinion, being a pickup qualifies it as a sleeper, it def looks a lot less intimidating then my mustangs.

This would be a sleeper your truck looks to mean it would be like saying mine is a sleeper

I agree that my truck could look more "sleeper"ish

I didn't start the thread to debate what is and what isn't considered a sleeper.

Looks great man, didn't care if it was called a sleeper to many, still a daily driver that turns heads after 5 years of driving it.

Well I'm putting this project on the sidelines for awhile.

Last week was a rough week for the ranger. The clutch was already bad, and was slipping, I think the extra wear and tear caused the trans mount to go and is shot. The driveshaft is about to drop on its own. Along with that the rear end is whining super loud because the ring and pinion is worn out.

So in the meantime I found a local 2003 ranger I am in the progress of working a deal on. Since I need a new daily driver.

Once I figure that out ill have to make the decision on whether or not to swap everything over into the newer truck, or put the time and money into the 91.

I think I already made up my mind though lol.
