Default 6 month review of Camburg/BTF front end

So, its been about 6 months on my new front end. I wanted to write a review of it, as it seems to be gathering traction in the prerunner scene. I ordered everything through Brandon who at the time owned BC supertrucks. I have to say that over all, its proven itself to be a strong reliable kit, and has taken the abuse ive gave it very well.

I am running BTF uniball upper arms, Camburg 2.5 coils, ORW 10" limit straps, Bilstein 5100 shocks and Doetsch 3" spindles.

first things first. The spindles are great. For an aftermarket product, i got no bump steer, i have never bent or broke a snout, and they didn't change my ride any. The coils from camburg are made for them by eibach, and they ride similar to stock. over small bumps they tend to be a little harsh, but get into the bigger stuff and they soak it up like a sponge.

I can say enough about the UCA's from BTF. Besides the uniball being open to the dirt, these arms are bullet proof, and take the abuse very good. The limit straps from ORW are also a nice touch, though id love to see a bit more stretch in them. They are fraying slightly, im sure my climate doesnt help that.

The only regret i have is my shocks. Bump on them is fantastic, the rebound is WAY too soft, and allows the wheel to "slam" to the limit straps, making a sound similar to sheering metal. I would suggest a valved set of shocks, 2.0 w/ or w/o remote resi, as they will improve whats there greatly.

A good set of bumpstops are also a good idea. I run the stock ones, and can say that they are useless for anything beyond daily driving.

I would give the kit a 8 out of 10 for comfort on road, and a 9 out of 10 for offroad comfort. The shocks id put at a 3 out of 10, coils at a 8 out of 10 (would like softer) and the UCA's at 10 out of 10.

if your looking for something cheap but durable, i wouldnt hesitate on the camburg 5.5 kit. it will cost close to the same, comes with everything, including a spindle and is tried and tested strong. Suggested upgrades would include a gusset kit, and 2.0 shocks at 8" travel. My setup cost me about $2,000 with taxes included (13% in ontario), the camburg 5.5 would have cost me about 2500 and if i were to do it over would go that route.

I do have either a bent misalignment spacer or a bent pin to the UCA, i will update when i know.

Nate

After checking into the pin, it had not bent. the top nut im now hearing is known to back off, and both sides were hand tight. Its suggested to lock nut the bolt.

Thanks Mac, Had alot of guys asking me about it, so i thought it wouldnt be a bad idea. Anybody who wants info or has it, please feel free to post here!

once snugged up, it feels great!

pretty much sums up my opinion as well, as we have the exact same setup. The weak point is my shocks, as we all know bilstein's are good stock replacements but for our purposes a 2.0 resi shock would be MUCH better.
