Default unhappy BBK customer

My buddy has a 2001 Ranger Edge 4.0 V6. As we know the 2001 came with the SOHC V6, not the OHV. BBK claims on their website that their bored throttle body fits ALL '89-'02 Ford Explorers and Rangers with the 4.0L. My friend got his and it didn't fit since its for the OHV engine. He e-mailed BBK and all they said was they charge a 16% restocking fee for non-faulty parts and he would have to pay to ship it back. In my opinion, it is their fault since they made an error with the listing saying it fits up to 2002 Rangers when clearly it won't. Am I wrong? Isn't that kinda like false advertising?

I would tell BBK that all you want is a 100% refund INCLUDING returning S/H costs,otherwise you are going to submit a claim with the better business Bureau

Read the bottom. also I think that in 2001 some trucks had sohc and some were ohv

What exactly does that part you highlighted mean? It says part # 1580 and thats what the part number is for the one he has. Are they just saying it is 50 state legal in that little blurb?

I mentioned the fact that the part was listed wrong to the lady we e-mailed and all she said was since it has no manufacturing defects they require us to pay shipping and they charge a 16% restocking fee and refund the rest. I will definitely contact them again and mention the BBB. Thanks for the advice.

all ford ranger 4.0 from 2001+ (actually from july 2000 build date on) are SOHC. after July 2000, NO OHV 4.0 rangers were built.

Have your friend discuss the charge with his/ her credit card company. If he provides the info that the part listing was wrong, the credit card company will most likely side with him and refund the complete charge.

I had a similar issue happen a couple of years ago and my credit card company made it right for me.

I agree, they need to refund the money, as their information is wrong. Period

I had similiar happen with Rustys Offroad, wrong part, listed incorrectly, Visa took care of it for me in about 10min when Rusty's stopped answering my calls about returns.
