It Got a few options that I love. Trans temp is a big one. And air intake temp. There are a bunch more features. Hp and torque all that. I enjoy it. Plus the code reading capabilities

So my 2001 xlt would have the trans temp feature as well. I don't mind getting the best one if it can read items...etc.

I noticed on their site for the v1.3 they have different programming options.

General Motors (GM)
General Motors (GM) with CAN (~2008+)
Toyota Tacoma/Tundra CAN
Ford 6.0L CAN
Ford 6.4L CAN
Ford 7.3L
Ford with CAN (~2008+)
Ford Other (Not CAN)
Honda with CAN
Prius 2nd Gen
Prius 3rd Gen

I take it we would use the Ford Non Can....

Dumb question but I get that one for the truck but then get a new vehicle, can I change this v1.3 programming to another vehicle?

Thanks,
-Nigel

I have the non can ford program. It works great. And yes yours is same year as mine. And yes you can. Used it on many Volkswagens to clear codes

Appreciate the info!

I was going to get the PLUS version but I guess it's worth it to get the MX version of the Ford Non Canbus.

No problem! The MX1.3 is the best mod I've done to my truck. It has saved my butt many times

So I just ordered the MX for the non-can Ford. What setup did you have to do for the trans temp? Or did you just pick that gauge and it worked out of the box?

I read on the other ultraguage form that re-programming needed to be done to read factory gauge with the MX?

Thanks,
-Nigel

I picked the gauges I wanted and boom it was done. No programming required

----------

The only programming I had to do IIRC was fuel tank size and engine liters

Default Re: Ultra-Gauge Support/Ordering Thread

I got mine a couple days ago.... I'm REALLY surprised at how small this is. You see pictures posted here but until you actually get it I was like WOW, this is small. But that's a good thing!

I ordered the horizontal mount because someone on the Tacoma forum said that a horizontal mount is perfect for the windshield... go figure. Sure enough it fits at least in my 01' Ranger perfectly in the upper left hand corner of the windshield. The cord can then be placed behind the a-pillar ( I am going to dremel out a small half circle at the top, simply so the wire can slip in and not be all tied up on the windshield or creased by the a-pillar) then run down and plug into the OBDII port. The adhesive is the 3m tape so it should STAY put on the windshield unlike a suction cup mount that will eventually fall...

Because my windshield has a factory tint on the upper half, from the outside you don't see the sticky mount NOR do you see the actual ultra gauge. So that pretty much eliminates anyone from trying to smash the window and think it's a GPS, then be disappointed that it's not and torch the rest of the truck out of sheer frustration....lol

I'll post pictures probably this weekend once I am done with my current truck CEL issues this week. I still have to play with it but the MX version that I have picked up the trans temp no problem. What should trans temp normally be at honestly? The rest of it is cool... Since I have bigger tires and wheels I KNOW my speedo is off but it's nice to see actual real speed compared to adding +5mph when looking at my speedo now.

Thanks,
-Nigel

So after reading this (and many other threads) I still haven't found a definitive answer.

I know the UG will work with a '97 but which features will NOT work? I'm looking for mainly Instant MPG to try and adjust how I drive and find out things like which gear to be in for certain conditions like lower in-town speeds and climbing hills. Also how lightly I can go on the gas pedal to hold highway speeds. Instant MPG will give me the feedback I need. I would love overall MPG but it doesn't look like this feature is compatible with the '97 because the speedo is cable driven and not electronic. If this is the case will Instant MPG be not available also?

Oh Deer: 2003 XL 2.3L 5-speed stick w/OD. Current mods: Body work after hitting a deer 12 hours after I bought it. Averaging 32 MPG on the highway.

I have a UG in my ranger and in my vw tdi. My friend also has used them in a few of his vehicles. From what I have seen the instant mpg is not accurate. Using engine load percentage would be your best bet.
