Re: Alternator not staying charged
Have the alternator and battery tested. It IS possible that one or both could be bad. That's why they have warranties. ;)

Re: Alternator not staying charged
Check the leads coming out of the alternator they could possibly be broken or frayed also it could be a ground problem, have the bat and alt checked first.

Re: Alternator not staying charged
found that the new alternator that i bought from pepboys has also become bad and my truck was running off strictly battery so everyone on here don't buy an alternator from pepboys they are junk! i'm taking back the alternator soon and going to buy one from advanced auto parts my number one source for parts for my truck.

Re: Alternator not staying charged
Had the same thing happen a few times before. I've installed car audio for a long time and many people would bring in an older car with 100K+ Miles on it. We would suggest getting a new alternator for the amount of power needed. Instead of purchasing a performance type setup, the customers would buy these refurbs. About 1 in 3 gave us problems. Of course they pointed fingers at us but it was almost always the refurbed alternator.
