Can someone help me with my sub wiring

I'm looking to run two alpine type s 10's on a JL 250/1 mono amp. I need help figuring out how to wire the subs up to get the most out of them and the amp. here's what I have

Crutchfield.com has nice diagrams.
Here is one.

yeah i can read diagrams, but i dont know what is the best way to wire up or what I can load with this amp

i dont understand stuff like ohm's and all that

thank you though for helping :)

Like this,

that adds up to 4ohms with the DVC subs.

someone said to wire them either parallel, or in series and said to be safe, to wire them in series. what does that mean?

Re: Can someone help me with my sub wiring

if you wire speakers in parallel you connect both positive terminals of the speakers to the positive output on the amp and you connect both negative terminals from the speakers to the negative terminal on the amp. when you wire speakers in parallel the ohm rating drops. two 4ohm speakers combine to be 2ohms. if you wire speakers in series you connect the positive terminal from the amp to the positive of one speaker, then connect the negative of that same speaker to the positive terminal of speaker 2, finally you connect the negative terminal of speaker 2 to the negative terminal on the amp. when you wire speakers in series the ohm rating of the speaker goes up. two 4ohm speakers wired in series have a rating of 8ohm. the lower the ohm rating the more power your amp is going to push out. you have to check and see what kind of load the amplifier can handle and what kind of power the speakers can handle. the jl audio amp is fine with a two ohm load and the speakers can handle the power so I would recommend wiring the speakers in parallel. the JL amp requires a minimum 4 gauge power wire from the car battery. you also want to make sure that the wire used to ground the amp to the chassis is 4 gauge and the wire connecting the chassis to the battery's negative terminal is at least 4 gauge. the lower the number the thicker the wire when it comes to wire gauge. you also have to install a fuse within 18" of the positive battery terminal. if the jl amp is the only one being used they recommend a 30A fuse. it's on page 4 of the instruction manual under the title fuse requirements located here: http://mobile.jlaudio.com/pdfs/13025.pdf
The speakers are dual voice coil so just make sure that both voice coils combined make each speaker 4ohm. if both voice coils on each speaker is 4ohm then the speakers are actually 2ohm so in that case I would wire the speakers in series.

in this image each speaker has two voice coils of 4ohm each which are wired in series, that makes each speaker 8 ohm. that is why when you wire the two speakers in parallel the amp still only sees a 4 ohm load. usually with dual voice coil speakers you have the choice of wiring each speaker in parallel or in series by using short wire jumpers in the speaker. if each voice coil is 4ohm like in this example then I would wire the voice coils in the speakers in series and wire the speakers to the amp in parallel. that would give you a 4ohm load at the amp. if the voice coils were 4ohm and were wired in parallel and the speakers were wired in parallel to the amp then that would drop the load at the amp below 2ohm which would probably blow the amp and or speakers.

thanks, I wired the system up a week ago or so. Turns out my amp runs fine at ohm loads as low as 1.5 so i wired in parrallel and its perfect

yeah the jl slash amps will run full power at any impedance between 1 and 4 ohm thanks to the rips power supply
