custom seat mounts anyone?

ok i just got a new pair of nice leather bucket seats out of a newer toyota solora and they are waaay wider tracks then my rangers so i am going to have to custom fab some mounts i was just wondering if anyone else has pictures or something of along those lines of putting a different make seats in there ranger. ill get pics when i find my camera.
thanks

has no one done this?

yea i guess it is a crapshoot but i have had some ideas about what i am going to do. im thinking i can cut off the old mounting points on the toyota seats and weld a piece of flat bar across which would make up for the wider tracks and then cut or make new mounting brackets to match the ranger bolt holes i think it will sit about a 1/2 in higher in the end but it is well worth it
sorry cant find my camera but here is a rough idea

depending on what type of fabricator you are anything can fit.

I don't know of anyone that has actually done it though

If they fit in the truck, you can fab something up for sure. Just need a welder and some know how.

Nope it is literaly impossible. A Toyota seat will not fit no matter what.

i wouldn't say that. anything is possible if your pockets are deep enough. some time with a welder and some flat stock just about anything is possible.

your idea is right on. i got to do something similar to put the 65 mustang seats in my truck, but the width is fine for me, the length is off.

thanks glad im on the right track when i do this i will probably take some pics of the process i got a buddy thats a welder and he said he would weld it up for me. also i just noticed the seats have a srs airbag in them should i remove these i think i found the wire that goes to it so if it doest effect the seat is it possible?

drppdyllwrngr 03-01-2010 04:46 AM

i would cut the wires off as far up as you can. don't worry about the rest of the airbag, it should be just fine as it is.
