Honestly, if it's going to look that much like an F-150 (based on what the grille and headlights look like), I would rather just buy an F-150. For the assumed cost it will have, compared to an F-150, not sure it would be that much different. The diesel idea is interesting though.

Hey gcextreme, show me one single post anywhere on this entire forum with this exact link posted in it for discussion....oh wait a second, there isn't. Do me a favor and go suck a bag of dicks!! You want to talk about beating a dead horse, 50% of the posts on this forum are "will these tires fit?" "can I make my gas mileage better" I'm sorry for trying to bring in fresh links and discussions to this forum. Most people on here would rather bicker than discuss any topics of importance or interest.

Lone-ranger, I also think that it looks very similar to the current f-150 from what we can see under the camo. However ford is getting pretty smart with testing certain elements of new vehicles on existing platforms. For example there are pictures of a 2013 mustang body, with a new platform clearly underneath. Maybe this is ford testing new rear ends and differentials, new power plants? Who knows. However I find any new truck very exciting to speculate over. I appreciate your point of view.

Same topic, hopeful return of the ranger or its replacement, just a new article about it.....

Im not going to go looking for similar threads becauae there are too many...

There is just so much epic written all over. But I think its interesting. The Ranger was designed as a replacement for the F100 to meet better fuel economy and durability standards, and was eventually phased out due to a redesigned Ranger being too close of competition for the much touted F150 both for size, payload and fuel economy in the current models sucked Michael moores dick. So they bring a truck that is blatantly (possibly) supposed to be the cheap man's F150 with very similar specs....I almost laughed so hard at the proposition of this I cried. For its pure stupidity

Re: 2015 Ford F-100....?

I personally think, a shrunk down simplified f-150 "f-100" would be a hit. Stick to the basics of what makes a truck, a truck. However, offer models that include most if not all of today's amenities. Something that our old Ranger never attempted to do even remotely. A quick google search shows roughly 12,000 locations of the top 3 auto parts store suppliers. You sure don't see f-150's delivering parts now do you? That is just a small portion of the corporate vehicle pie that ford is missing out on by not making a smaller light duty truck. Instead I see foreign made and designed trucks delivering auto parts. Ford has some very very intelligent designers and engineers that work for them. Get back to the drawing board and figure out that magic formula that will get people interested in the small truck market again. Also figure out a way to keep those buying f-150's currently to keep doing so.

True. Gotta love the double standards around here.

It's too bad they can't just make it look like this

JGiddy, thank you for making me feel like I'm not the only one on here who doesn't have something dead in their ass! Haha. I simply just love discussing topics that make you think.

That is absolutely beautiful!!! If Ford could capture the simple and beautiful essence of truck as they were, before they decided to make them huge for guys who feel the need to compensate for something their lacking you'd have a cult following overnight. My question to my fellow forum members is how can Ford differentiate a all new, small light duty truck enough to make it desirable enough to produce. Before someone jumps on me from behind,

I understand there is a thread discussing what they would want in a new ranger if one would be made, however my question to you is what ideas or innovation would make the truck all it's own again?

Ok that is the dumbest thing i've heard. They made them "big" because the small trucks cant tow 20000 lbs. they made the 150,250,350,450 etc for those who work and need to haul things.

Huh? That's not why they made them big. They made them big so they could physically haul more stuff and more people and get more work done. Then the power and torque had to be upped as well.
Put the same v8 and drivetrain from a fullsize into a small truck and the small truck rapes the fullsize as far as performance goes.

Re: 2015 Ford F-100....?

Here's a question for you to ponder bigfisher, what necessitates a trucks large size to its towing capacity. Last time I checked frame strength, suspension capabilities, engine power and the transmissions torque and load rating had something to do with it also.

Just for an example look at the f-150 vs say the f-350. They are give or take the same size with the same setup: IE regular cab to regular cab. What's the difference between the two...? Oh it must be that whole engineering thing. If you designed and built a truck say the Rangers size with the same power, same suspension, same transmission could it not in essence perform the same "work"
