new battery dead in two days need help

I bought a new battery two days ago and its dead already. i was thinking it was the alternator so someone told me to take the battery out once the truck was running and if the truck shut off then it was the alternator. i did that but the truck stayed on but it did go off after about a min or two. so i dont know whats taking all my battery life. please help if you can.

Thanks,
Tingler

Where did you buy the battery? Just take it back and have them swap it out should be under warranty.

Running the truck without a battery is not the way to test it...you can actually damage your alternator that way...it slams it wide open.

that is am old carb car trick, but pulling the bat out you can spike the ECY and fry it...

noe do you have a multimeter? if you do, disconnect the pos side of the batt, then turn the key to the rum position, put your Multi meter on DCV, and place one lead on the pos side of the bat, and the other lead on the batt cable, and see how much voltage is being pulled.
now open the door and and look at the meter and see how much voltage is being pulled.
next start pulling fuses one at a time, till you find the voltage draw, then you need to check that ciruit.

I would bet you have something like a bad light switch, or an aftermaket amp pulling voltage when the key is out

If you pull your alternator off, a place like Autozone can test it for you and make sure it's okay.

yea i was thinking about taking it to autozone today. i have to get a meter before i try the fuse thing.
