Water Pump Failure?
So, is this my whole water pump needing to be replaced or it just a gasket? I have been trying to eliminate a squeaky belt problem is this the possible culprit?

Could be.

From the look of the pics I would say gasket but you will know more when you get the belt off. If the pump is bad the pulley will be loose.
|
also you would have water coming from the weep hole on the water pump
|
Nope. Pulley is good. I have been chasing this squeal for months now and all the sudden I have a pretty nasty leak from around the water pump...not real sure what to do though. I feel like there would be no point in just replacing the gasket. Anyone have tips on replacing a waterpump?
|
I wouldnt bother changing just the gasket. If you are going to go through the hassle of taking it off anyway, put a new one on. They are not too expensive and you will have the peace of mind knowing you have a new water pump. Change the belt too.

Did you check under the heater hose connections above the water pump? I found one of mine seeping due to the cold weather. Coolant ran down the side of the block like yours. All I needed to do was tighten the clamp, problem solved.
|
I'll take a look at that. But I'm wondering if my timing cover gasket is bad, can coolant leak from there?

These are photos of my coolant leak on the upper right side. I am trying to determine if it is the Hose, Timing cover gasket, water pump gasket, any combination of the three or possibly even something else. Thoughts?Attachment 1042

The best and easiest thing to do, since you can already see the leak, is to pressure test the system and get down there and watch to see where it is coming from.

it looks like it is leaking from the timing cover ive done alot of them before i would also replace the water pump it sucks to do it twice :D
