Hello from Florida! 2/15/10
I'm new here today, 2/15/10. Just retired from plumbing. Could use help/info.
Repair shop wants $318+ for ONE front wheel bearing. He says it's sealed and is a complete unit. Sounds fishy to me! Details: 96 Ranger 2wd, 2.3 engine ext. cab. Thanks if you can help Bill  |
Welcome to the board... I am new too!
the wheel bearing is a typical cup and cone since you have a 2WD... the bearings will set you back about $30 the seal about $6 and a tub of grease about $6 you can do this your self fairly simply would take maybe 90 mins per side being your first time. |
Thanks! Would the 4wd have the sealed units?

I'll "git 'er done" Wednesday!
There is NO "bearing module", as I suspected. |
