Hello from Florida! 2/15/10

I'm new here today, 2/15/10. Just retired from plumbing. Could use help/info.
Repair shop wants $318+ for ONE front wheel bearing. He says it's sealed and is a complete unit. Sounds fishy to me!
Details:
96 Ranger 2wd, 2.3 engine ext. cab.
Thanks if you can help

Bill

Welcome to the board... I am new too!

the wheel bearing is a typical cup and cone since you have a 2WD... the bearings will set you back about $30 the seal about $6 and a tub of grease about $6 you can do this your self fairly simply would take maybe 90 mins per side being your first time.

Thanks! Would the 4wd have the sealed units?

I'll "git 'er done" Wednesday!
There is NO "bearing module", as I suspected.
