oil change check engine light?

I have a 2003 ranger edge 3.0. I recently cha.ged my oil and a little while after that the check engine light came on. I was wondering if the check engine light comes on when it is recommended to change the oil and of so how do I reset it and of not any ideas? Engine seems to be running fine so idk
