Rearend question

I have a 7.5 3.73 one week peel:( I like to do burnouts and go off road in and I drive highway and city pretty evenly 40/60 but I want to have both of the wheels turning I'm pretty sure I'm going to need to get a 8.8 or what sounds good I have no idea

Re: Rearend question

limited slip, or locker. same with a 8.8. However "i wanna do burnouts" is not a very good reason to upgrade.

I mean it kinda is for me, and the off road part sounded pretty good? I pull my trailer a lot with my 4 wheeler, I scrap too and I use it for construction, its my toy and work truck I wanna have both wheels spinning for off roading and snow and when I wanna spin em I want both going

Re: Rearend question

fx4 02-08?

not sure on expo ones

Nightmare 11-05-2012 03:46 PM

By expo do you mean an explorer? I'm sorry I'm learning haha

djfllmn 11-05-2012 03:47 PM

Re: Rearend question

yea and the expo ones have disc brakes

Nightmare 11-05-2012 03:53 PM

Ok thank you so do u have to change anything with the break booster or anything like that? Also does the explorer need to a v8 to have the limited split rearend?

Re: Rearend question

no on the master cylinder and you have to cut and reweld the spring perches

Re: Rearend question

Anyone is welcome to correct me if I'm wrong but I don't think you need the 8.8 rear to switch from an open rear to a limited slip/posi rear. You can use your 7.5. I also may be wrong about this but I think you may be able to use a mustang rear, and I think they come with both 7.5 and 8.8 rear ends too.

Nightmare 11-05-2012 04:02 PM

but isn't the 8.8 a stronger rearend that already comes ls?

----------

Do you know what you would have to do the master cylinder or have to get and is there a kit to put the 8.8 in?

djfllmn 11-05-2012 04:03 PM

Re: Rearend question

not all 8.8s are ls

----------

you dont have to do anything if its out of another ranger....it bolts right in...all you need is the U-bolts for the 8.8

Nightmare 11-05-2012 04:06 PM

Ok so would you know what codes I should look for?
