Heater Blows Too Hot!
I have the world's best heater. It blows hot hot hot. In fact it even blows hot when the AC is on. I get no cooling at all. Is this a thermostat problem?

Are you saying that it blows full hot air regardless of what you have the temperature knob set for?
Year/make/model might help too? |
Sorry for the lack of info. I am new and haven't loaded up my data yet.
I have a 97 5spd 4cly 2WD short bed that I picked up to modify and have fun with. The heater control and fan nobs work fine at regulating flow and direction, but the hot is extremely hot. Even at low it can get too warm and I have to crack the window. When I switch to AC there is no change; it still comes out hot even thou its set on AC. Most threads are about folks not getting enough heat; I have the opposite problem. Thanks. |
probably just needs to be recharged

double post!!!!

Uh, recharging isn't gonna make the hot air go away. It might make the a/c work better, but the a/c isn't designed to overpower the heater. I'm guessing a cracked vacuum hose under the dash, not closing the blend door all the way.

will that work on a 95 as well? i need to do that

Its impossible for it to be "too hot". The engine coolant is 190 degrees (give or take 10). There is no way to make the heat get "too hot".
What you are experiencing is a blend door problem. It controls how much air passes through the heater core. The actuators have a tendency to break and result in the door being stuck in full heat. |
here's a free blend door fix.

Thanks for all the advice. Time to roll on and get the toy running.
