auto vs standard trany

well im getting tired of my hilbilly syncros in my standard 5spd and am considering swaping out the trany. i know someone with an auto and my question is would it be worth the trouble putting it in or just overhaul/replace the standard.

Oh Micky.... I have a auto tranny with everything needed for a swap for sale... Having gone from auto to manual back in March 09...

It can get expensive, just so you know... My manual swap costed me about $1k or so.. Give or take $100, cuz I didn't really tally what it did cost me, as I was in a rush to get it up and running...

You will be much further ahead of the game to do a search of you local parts yards for a low mileage replacement gear box and just swap them out. Changing to a Auto will have a heap of expense and you will need to have the GEM reprogrammed for the auto trans. To much hassle over the prospect of a simple pull out one box and put in another. JMHO

It's actually the PCM that needs re-programed, and I have one of those set up for an auto
