wheel weight = bigger tires???
 
my buddy put 18in crome rims on his mustang 2 years ago the shop told him that he needed to get bigger brakes. so on a stock ranger the tire and rim weighs anywere from 50 to 60 pounds give or take. if you run 35s on a 15 or 16x10 inch rim the weight could get up to 80 to 100 pounds. so do you have to beef up ur brakes to compinseight for the weight or was the shop jerkin him around tryin to get every penny from him. any body herd of this??

Well I ran 35"s on an Xj for 5 years with stock disc drum setup. never had any issues. The weight of the truck in stopping is more important than the rolling mass of the tire wheel combo.

to be technical the extra weight may reduce some braking, but the added traction of a larger wider tire can also make up for it. The only problem I've had was once after making a panic stop on the freeway, the brakes became too hot and had a horrible fade for about 10 mins. If you have the money to spend, beef them up, otherwise you might wanna get used to glazed and warped rotors. Oh wait, the rotors warp easily with the stock setup, on rangers. In that case don't worry about the brakes. You'll be fine.
