Millage differences? One better than the other? OOPS, OHV.

ford doesnt make a DOHC 4.0....

SOHC is generally believed to be the better 4.0...but both have their strong points

The 4.0 OHV had more low end torque. And the 4.0 is said to have more hp and better MPG.

Both great motors, SOHC makes more power, better towing, smoother engine all around. There is no real difference in mileage between the OHV and SOHC though.

they both suck gas lol...in fact i get the same MPG with my F150 as i did my ranger

I think the OHV shines more with its low end torque, great for hauling and wheeling, and with 3.27 gears can get good MPG (for a 4L)

the 4L SOHC seems to shine more in everyday normal driving, more HP at a higher RPM, better at passing, merging on the highway, more refined

I hear people say that the OHV has all this "low end torque" But of the three OHV's Ive owned Ive never noticed any difference at all in low end grunt compared to my SOHC. My SOHC will out tow any of the OHV's Ive owned hands down. Not downing the OHV at all, I love that motor but I would never hang my hat on it having any more low end grunt than the SOHC.

Side note: i have a thread started regarding my securilock issues. Can you help??? The power locks and fob work when they want. Battery in fob has been replaced. I was able to thurn key 8 times to program the fob before but now nothing happens when i do that. Yesterday morning the power locks didnt work at home, but did when i got to work, when i got home they didnt. So, I came out to the truck this morning, shut the door and the dome light stayed on for a bit, I knew at this point it would work and it did.. The power locks worked. By the time I got to work 20 min later, they didnt. The dome light went out right away telling me the programming was lost. I hadnt used the fob and I always use the same key. Could the chip in the key or key switch be going bad?? If so, wouldnt it lock the truck up and not let it start???

Also my father-in-law has an issue with his 2000. Please check out that thread.. Just died while driving. Sputters, floods out after a few seconds and stalls, smells like too rich... Codes showed O2 and ff sensors, once cleared it just shows ff sensor, they are costly, what can i do to confirm thats the problem without throwing money at parts it dont need???
