Moving from SynBlend to full synthetic at 100K miles?

I have a 96 V6 4.0 OHV ranger and it is just a few miles shy of 100,000

I'ts been running synblend 5w30 and received regular oil changes since I got it at 60K , and doesn't have any appearant leaks.
I'm considering moving to a full synthetic to attempt to quiet down the engine, and perhaps get some performance boost from it.

Could switching to a full synthetic this late in the engine's life have very adverse effects?

If it doesn't have any leaks or anything go for it. Check to make sure your not burning oil too, cause it would be kinda pointless to move to synthetic if you gotta add a quart of oil every time you fill your gas tank. I've got 130,000 miles and I run high mileage oil just cause I want this truck to last.
