I need help!!!! Rough idle 4.0 v6

Hello all... I am new to this Website.... I came to see if anyone can help me with my truck, give advice etc.etc...
Ok heres my problem.. I bought this 1993 Ranger 4x4 with a 4.0 on valentines day this year... Ever since I have owned it it has had an Idling problem... When I first bought the truck it would hardly stay running.. I bought it from a good friend of mine who had drove it a long time.. he told me it probably needed the intake to be cleaned on it. (He had did this before and it helped it some). Anyways it has always had a bad problem of idling up high (2000 RPM) and coming down to around 800-900 RPM. After it sits a minute it would just bog up and die. I researched the web and looked at other people posting the same problem and tried some of their solutions to no avail... I have changed my Mass Air Flow sensor, My idle air control valve, my Throttle positioning sensor, and my air filter... My fuel pump and filter are both good, plugs and wires are fairly new, and everything else seems to be good. The truck has new exhaust, and a new battery. It runs great going down the road and after changing those sensors and IAC valve it does idle somewhat better but it still dies after idling a few moments. It will also lope up and down from 900 to 1100 RPM. I have pulled the codes and it gave me a KOEO code 157. I know this is a lot of info but im trying to give everyone enough info as I can... If anyone has had any trouble like this please help...

Thanks,
Tim

Could be a clogged fuel pressure regulator.

Does it do it more when it's hot outside and the truck is warm?

I have a rough idle when cold and intermittently when warm on my 3.0. I've gone through tons of trouble shooting. Pressure tested the cylinder to rule out a head gasket leak. Im stumped as well

should check the quality of the spark your getting, if your coil pack is going out they can cause rough idle and also keep it from idling for long times, mine would idle fine but would fail to stay at idle it would just idle for a bit and die. So you may want to give that a shot.

What's a good way to chk it? It sucks. I had one purchased. In my hand. The rough idle went away and I returned it. Now the rough idle is back and am MFing myself lol

Try trouble shooting your maf? This is what I fou on your code.

Mine will do it sometimes right after i crank up and drive, I havent had this truck in real cold weather yet so i will have to see how it runs then... havent checked my fuel pressure regulator but i will. I wouldnt think its my coil because it seems to be firing well... But its anyones guess to whats causing it to die at this point :P Ive threw everything but the kitchen sink at it. The code 157 I got said "Mass Air Flow Too Low" so i changed my MAF sensor but still no luck

----------

Ill check my MAF voltage out also... thats something else I have not tried.. The remanufactured MAF i bought is still under warranty I might go get another one to see if the one i bought is bad.. dont guess that would hurt either.

Will it idle differently while it's in gear? Or just when it's in neutral?

When I replaced those sensors I would reset my battery and erase the trucks computer memory.... When i started it up, I would crank it in reverse, Move it from 1st through 5th as it warmed up... It idles the same no matter what gear you put it in or if its in neutral.... I thought it might and I had read somewhere that it is good to run them through the gears after a cpu reset.

I would check your ignition coil and your oxygen sensors. Also check your wiring at the Mass air flow sensor

I think I agree with this. Check the MAF wiring, and the plug maybe?
