4x4 302 prerunner suggestions

I am thinking of doing a 4wd prerunner with a 302 for a daily driver. I live in Indiana so its kinda important to have 4x4 for in the winter. Im thinking of doing a 93-97 since they are cheap. Is there a cheapish way to put a long travel suspension on it? How hard is the 302 swap to do? is 25 mpg possible i heard it was but not sure. Im also thinking of doing the raptor prerunner front clip and fenders and raptor bedsides. I wont use this truck in the sand just a street truck with off road ability and it will look awesome. I want it to end up looking like this but 4x4 http://i1202.photobucket.com/albums/...40490632_n.jpg

for cost your better off with a 2wd ranger. most prerunners are 2wd.

Ibeam/TTB is good for long travel but A-arm trucks have come a long way also its a toss up on what you want.

25mpg out of a V8 ranger... not really, if you gear it right and drive with a very light gas pedal possible 22ish mpg on freeway

how hard is the swap well being no ranger/explorer platform had a V8 in the 1st-3rd gen you have to deal with swap kits that dont always work great.

if you go 98+ it is basically bolt in. there is always wiring issues you have to sort out. also decided if you want Carbed or EFI

but will a v8 2wd be alright in the snow and im now thinking a 98+

As long as you have a limited slip differential and some good tires (preferably snow), you will get around better than most people. Some weight in the bed wouldn't be a bad idea either. With that set up, you would give most 4X4s a run for their money since they usually have open differentials.

Well 2wd would be my choice as long as it's good enough in the snow. It's cheaper and yes I want long travel suspension because I plan on taking this to UNOH when I go to college there for high performance. I want to be able to somewhat actually race thIs thing. What do you guys think is the cheapest long travel suspension system for the 2wd?

what in hell is UNOH....

cheap and long travel doesnt go together.

also the 98+ 4x4 there was only one kit Dixon bro racing which i wanna say was around $3000-$4000... its been a long while. last I heard they dont have a supplier for the CV shafts anymore so you can get the kit but you are on your own for the CV shafts

If you want mpg and power try to stick a v6 ecoboost in there. Motor is expensive but sooo awesome

the v6 ecoboost wouldnt be a bad Idea if I could get a motor for a good deal
