Problem with 4.0L SOHC Engine

Hello guys, I have a 02 Ranger with a 4.0L engine and I've been hearing a knocking or clicking sounds coming of the engine, any ideas to what this might be? And how much it usually takes to repair? Any responses are greatly appreciated! Thanks

Make sure none of your bearings are going bad (water pump, ac pump, power steering pump, altenator) and make sure your exhaust doesn't have a leak in it.

My power steering pump has a bad bearing and by exhaust has a leak in in it and it makes all types of clicking and clacking sounds.

If not it could be your timing chain tensioners about to go.

Thanks for the info bro, I certainly hope it's not the timing chains.
