Can i swap my lift kit?
 
Howzit, i got a 2003 Ford Ranger Edge 2wd. i bought it lifted, so not exactly sure what kind of lift kit it is, just its 4". but i was looking at a 2003 ford ranger xlt 4x4 level II for sale with no lift kit. is it possible to swap the lift kit from my edge over to the xlt? or does it depend on the type of kit? any info is helpful. also estimates on cost?/how many shop hours to complete? thanks.

Since the edge has the 4wd suspension under it I THINK you should be able to swap it right over..
And if its 4" it should either be RCD or Superlift..

This should be right. Check and see if you have tbars or not

100% no. 2wd is lifted with spindles.

4x4 has lift nuckles that the cv shafts run thru no they do not swap

unless it has a t-bar lift, in which case everything under there is exactly the same to a 4x4 of similar years.

ranger spindle only go up to 3"

if its a bolt in extension kit that lowers the LCA's and mounts, it will work. but yes if its spindle no dice.

Really are you people insane?

Go find a 4" 98+ 4x4 lift that fits a 2wd doesn't matter t-bar or not. It doesn't swap.

You can take all the front suspension off the 2wd t-bar and make yor new 4x4 now 2wd but that is 100% pointless Keep your 2wd then

Guessing? Really. I have lifted more Rangers then most people on here I am not guessing. Hell I have converted a 2wd edge to a 4x4 edge in a matter of hours. I am not guessing
i second everything. a 2wd lift, other than a body lift, will never work on a 4x4. edge or not.

the combination of 'should,' 'think,' and you thinking 4" lift spindles exist made me originally post. i wasn't singling you out, you know your shit and i've looked through your 5 speed swap thread before for info i need. but in this case...

The other guys did though....... Since an edge truck has the 4x4 suspension wouldn't it take a 4x4 suspension lift kit?

You won't find 4in lift spendles thay don't make em never have never will all you will find is 3in.

The edge still has spindles witch you could convert to 4x4 style wheel bearings and run the murdered half shafts to hold the bearing together

that was my point. you still can't run lift spindles on a 4x truck though, unless you completely pull the front drive shafts out. they use a press in snout like the 2x trucks do, not a hub set up like the 4x trucks.
