1997 3litre, starter goes "Click"

Drove my truck yesterday.

I got home, two hours later I went to start it and when I turned the key, I got a loud click, but no turning over.

I seem to have plenty of battery power. Lites work well. Any ideas.

Thanks,

Rich

if u got a battery charger ypu can take off the starter and hookpos. to the pos terminal on starter and neg. to negative terminal and if the gear dont move it's bad

^^^What he said.

But when I read the title of this thread, all I could think of was "The whistles go Whoooooooooooo!"

check your connections also. Mine did the same thing a couple weeks ago. Corroded terminals.

I hadn't done anything with my truck for a couple of days. Fact is, I don't even know where the starter is.

Went out yesterday, and the truck started right up. Go figure.
It magically healed it self.

I wonder want went on.

Thanks for your replies.

Yep it's the starter. It starts when it cold, but not warm. had a similar problem in a an Olds I used to have.

And when I read this title all I could think of, well . . . "Click" is better then "BOOM!"
