Clutch Cable

here's the deal, my 89 Ranger has a 302. It's a 5 speed 4wd and yesterday i went to the buddies house and the clutch pedal went to right to the floor. Upon inspection, the cable at the transmission has come out (popped out). Upon FURTHER inspection, looks like the cable and o-ring/connector is good.

It would appear that the metal retaining clip may have shifted and unclipped the connector. My question (because I haven't fixed it as yet) is why would this have happened? Anyone ever have their cable pop out like this?

Thanks,
Kenny

Re: Clutch Cable

Possible bad retaining pin/wire ? The connector wont stay seated. It's like the wire isnt grabbing the ring on the male connector ring.

ANYONE?
