Transfer case removal.
 
98 w/ auto. There is a crack in the piece that connects the tranny to the transfer case that is leaking fluid. To disassemble do I disconnect the xfer case first or the tranny?

that piece is called the tailshaft housing.

unbolt both driveshafts. then upbolt the t-case. the bottom bolt will not come completely out because it hits the cross-member no issue tho its enough to get it off. then you can unbolt the tailshaft housing
